Just before Election '80 some newscast was showing clips of a Reagan rally. One supporter's placard had a line that has forever been "seared" in my mind: "Why not an actor? We've had a clown for the last four years."
Priceless. And God Bless Ronald Reagan.
Definitely a major oversight missing that one.
I was at a sportsbar having a few with some buddies when the news flashed across one of the screens.
I abruptly got up and went home. One of my buddies asked me why was I emotional over "a stupid President." I told him if it wasn't for Reagan we wouldn't be here right now.
"...occasion on which Mr. Reagan threw out the day's ceremonial first pitch and did a charming inning and a half of play-by-play..."
Now that would be cool to hear.

Yeah it is. I haven't posted in months, but there is something about Reagan that still inspires me to act.

Bush rarely makes me feel proud to be an American, Reagan did everytime he spoke. Reagan was a man who could put chills down your spine when he spoke. I can watch repeats of Reagan speeches all day, while I have a hard time staying interested when Bush talks. Reagan and Bush are not all that different policy wise, but as a leader Reagan wins hands down.
I remember after Mondull lost he made the statement...
"I wanted to run for president in the worst way, and that's what I did."
I got an answer for that, but I'll save it for a more appropriate thread.
