Effort underway to recall Governor Schwarzenegger
KESQ ^ | Jan. 20, 2006 | KESQ News

A grassroots effort has been launched here in California to recall Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger's election to governor is the result of another recall. In 2003, Californians recalled Governor Grey Davis.

We have local reaction to this effort to oust Schwarzenegger from office.

The group calls itself “Save California Now” and their website is recall2006.com.

They say they have 10,000 volunteers signed up, all with the same goal in mind: recall Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger before this year's November election. But locals aren't so sure a recall is feasible.

Note the reasons for the recall on the website of Save California Now -- Recall Schwarzenegger

From their website:

TO THE HONORABLE ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: Pursuant to Section 11020, California Election Code, the undersigned registered qualified voters of the State of California, hereby give notice that we are the proponents of a recall petition and that we intend to seek your recall and removal from the office of Governor of the State of California, and to demand election of a successor in that office. The grounds for the recall are as follows: threatening public safety and welfare by grabbing funds from local governments and demoralizing public workers, failing in general to deal with state's major problems as they near crisis proportions, and dismantling public education in California by starving schools of necessary funds while protecting special interest groups of wealthy taxpayers. California should not be known as the state with poor schools, poor healthcare, and poor disaster readiness, all caused by a governor serving only the rich... "

They are clearly a bunch of leftists Dems, but I am sure our fine bunch of "faux-conservatives" will happily join hands with them, to have Arnold recalled and see a Dem replace him.

If Arnold gets recalled, this will be 2 recalled Governors in a row. Given that, who could possibly be dumb enough to run for Governor in that state again? Californians are ruining their state, second by second. Governing that state must be the worst Governorship position in the country.

Umm, duhhhhhhh.

There is a recall election scheduled.

It's the election for Governor in 2006.

They can go vote, and if enough people don't want Arnold to be Governor, he won't be, anymore.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Will the popular (or unpopular?) Arnold have intraparty opposition in the primary, which presumably will have a low voter turnout?

They want to have the recall election in June, at the same time as the primary.

This is just another effort to weaken Arnold and get publicity.

When Californicate finally goes in the tank, the feds will not spend one penny to help (they damn well better not). Let them sell El Capitan or Death Valley or something.

California is the world's 6th or 7th largest economy and I am sure it's a huge part of the economy of the US, so CA going into the tank would cause a recession or even a depression in the US.

I really doubt it. And I was a McClintock supporter last time. Tom's busy with his Lt. Governor campaign and I don't know who else both thinks they could be that popular and also that it would be a good idea.

Please don't bother to ping me to your trash threads.
This certainly was not worthy of posting at FR, IMO.

Why don't they just go ahead and save time and just try to remove/impeach every single person in the country with a ( R) behind their name?

They don't even have time to qualify this for the June ballot - what, are they going to hold a recall election and a gubernatorial election on the same November ballot?

They have to be Leftists - the numbskull quotient of this move is just too high.

In my opinion they should split the state into several smaller states. I would call Southern California....Little Mexico.

Californians are ruining their state, second by second

They also ruin other areas and states when they move from Kalifornia.

Shows just how ignorant these people are: They move to another state because of the situation in Kalifornia, then they proceed to do the SAME THINGS in their new location that they did in Kalifornia, but expecting different results.

Liberals: A perfect example of the results of brain matter wasting away.
