MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - The Russian delegation to the January session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will strongly oppose any attempt to equate Communism to Nazism, Head of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov said.
"This is unacceptable, we are not ready to uphold any attempt to compare these ideologies as branches of totalitarianism," Kosachyov said at a Friday press conference in Moscow devoted to the upcoming on January 23 PACE winter session in Strasbourg at which a resolution condemning the crimes of totalitarian communist regimes will be discussed.
A draft resolution introduced for discussion at PACE compares communism and Nazism as ideologies, Kosachyov said. Communism, as an ideology, cannot be condemned in itself, he said.
Any ideology restricted by laws cannot be banned, he said.
Well Communism did get designed first so maybe it is still supreme.
That still doesn't put any of those guys in the league with Ruckleshaus and Rachel Carson and the 90 million people they killed by banning DDT.
Well fascism = communism might be more accurate. Nazism, ie the German strain of fascism was particularly brutal. And ultimately they are two rationales against freedom and so naturally they lead to bad things.
There is a difference in that naziism was meant only for Germans while communism was meant for the whole world. You had less of a chance of starving due to naziism, at least if you were living outside of Germany.
You might ask the Poles about that. Nazism was meant only to benefit the Germans. Fascism is national socialism while communism is international socialism. But most certainly Nazism was meant to affect millions of people out side of German quite negatively.
The communists want(ed) all of the world.

Well, if an official of the former Soviet empire said that National Socialism and Soviet communism aren't remotely similar, I guess we can lay that idea to rest.
Joe it is probably just one man opinion. I for one disagree with Kozachev. So you have now one vote "for".
There have been between 25,000,000 to 40,000,000 million killed by Communist and only about 7,000,000 killed by Nazi.==
Nazi killed at keast 6 mln in only one Poland. So they killed far more then 7 mlns all together. Accually we need to calculate all victimes thoroughly.
"will strongly oppose any attempt to equate Communism to Nazism,"
Of course - this is an insult - the Nazis were pikers compared to the Russians - Russians were the REAL masters of Genocide.
Your right - all told , the Kremlin is responsible for over 100 million deaths

"Kremlin" is ancient fortress in the middle of Moscow. http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~powellm/kremlin.html
So what you mean by your statement?
Of course - this is an insult - the Nazis were pikers compared to the Russians - Russians were the REAL masters of Genocide.==
It is very russophobic and insulting statement. I think you are very stupid man if you said such things.
When comparing deaths under Communism and Nazism rarely are the deaths included which were caused by the wars they started. Those should count, too, includiung the enemy deaths as well as their own.
"So what you mean by your statement?"
What part of "Russia was the agent of 100 million deaths" do you not understand?
Do you think that everyone is not becoming aware of Comintern, the Internationale, and the thugs like Mao and Castro that were incubated by the Kremlin?
You are right about which one is worse. But there is one more, much more fundamental, difference: communism is a way of life, while nazism is an ideology and not per se a way of life. The word "communism" is also used to denote an ideology, and this practice gives rise to unnecessary confusion.
National socialism has as much potential to perpetrate expansionism and genocide as communism. The Nazis tried to take over the world, and worse, tried to exterminate a whole demographic group of a particular system of beliefs (Jews and Judaism). Communism treated the same group brutally with both public propaganda and massacres.
Konstantin Kosachyov is a United Russia party member. Although Putin has been relatively pretty good compared to some of the old USSR leaders, his (and Kosachyov's) party tends to broadcast much toward national socialism now.
National socialism is no better or worse than communism. Both are downright ugly.
