The rising generation of Americans has been shaped profoundly by two events that have anniversaries this week. The first event was the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade 34 years ago. The second event was the inauguration of Ronald Reagan 25 years ago.
Because of the first event, one fourth of our generation is no longer alive. Roe Babies, 45 million of them since 1973, are missing.
But there are some positive signs on the cultural horizon. In recent years, public opinion regarding abortion has continually shifted toward the pro-life position. The number of Americans calling themselves pro-choice has declined by 10 points since 1995, while the number of Americans calling themselves pro-life has increased 16 points. According to a Gallup poll, a decade ago, 56 percent of Americans considered themselves pro-choice and 33 percent said they were pro-life. Today, according to a Zogby poll, 49 percent of Americans say they are pro-life, compared to 46 percent who say they are pro-choice.12
The most important reason for this shift is the survivors of abortion. Reagan Babies, born between 1981 and 1989, number about 30 million. Reagan Babies are presently in high school, college, on the frontlines in Iraq and Afghanistan, and emerging in the workplace. A growing collection of evidence indicates that Reagan Babies are more conservative than our parents. This is especially evident in the issue of abortion.

That's how the the Left fights. The only "wars" worth fighting are on social issues of the day, and the casualties are ALWAYS the most defenseless among us.
I'm not a "Reagan baby", but I did come of age in the Reagan Era, and it had a profound effect on my life and politics.
Well, I guess that makes me a 'Reagan Baby.' I'm not ashamed of that term in the least!

Excellent! So, since these people believe in abortion on demand, they'll also be the FIRST to euthanize themselves when they all get very old and/or ill, right? That's a win-win. ;)
The flood of abortion since Roe has very odd cultural ramifications, while I am pro life, I can't help but take some stock in the notion that lower crime rates are due to increased abortion rates. Furthermore, it has increased the percentage of children being born into stable families which leads to the phenomenon discussed in this article.
The effects are very Malthusian, and that was the intent of the early abortion advocates.
Yes and this trend will continue. The left is killing its future one abortion at a time while conservatives are becoming better and better at passing on conservative viewpoints and family values. Modern liberalism is by definition an empty philosophy that only appeals to a very cynical narrow group of people. The only way that it can surive is through deception because it has so detached itself from its roots that its only way to gain vitality is through parasitism.
The mainstream liberalism of today is the impotent radicalism of the past which like a vampire can not see its own reflection. The fangs, the teeth, the gnashing and clawing persist as if by pure fear alone their goals can be won. It is this inability to see the monster in their ways that keeps them from enchanting anyone but children and the mentality and emotionally disturbed.
Something similar has happened in Europe--except that there the live-for-the-moment crowd is being replaced by Muslim immigrants.
Only if they also Euthanize their voters ID when they die.
Those crime rates would not be lower if the 45 million murders were included in the stats.
So a quarter of the younger generation was killed via abortion - and the survivors know it and take it seriously.Just think of it this way: suppose that a woman was pregnant with identical twin girls, and she had one of them aborted. Would not the survivor be a daily reproach to her mother? Who would be able to bear it?
Likewise, forensic science is learning how to predict the appearance of a child who has been missing for years. Since we know that twins with identical DNA are hard to tell apart, it's obvious that the DNA essentially defines an individual's appearance. It follows that advances in computer modeling are likely in the future to reach the stage where it will be techically possible to present to a pregnant woman images not only a fetus' current state of development but images of the developing child's future appearance at any age - analogous to having photos of an identical twin whose sister was dispatched in utero.
Indeed, the technology would not likely be limited to flat 2-D images. How, exactly, does a woman opt to prevent the development of a child she has looked in the eye?
Technically, I'm a "Carter Baby" as I was born in Aug. 77. But I consider myself an adopted Reagan kid.

I'm a Kennedy kid, born durung the Cuban missile crisis. However, Reagan is one of my heroes, so I'm an honorary Reagan kid.
My kid's are Clinton kids (God forbid) but I think I have raised them with the values that fit in the Reagan and now Bush era. We sandwiched the Reagan era, my kids and I, but claim it anyway.
But since you were a twentysomething during Reagan's term, at least you came of age in his era!
