FINDLAY, Ohio -- The federal government is reaping a $1.1 million windfall from the estate of an Ohio woman. But the money comes with specific instructions.
Margaret Taylor's will said the government has to use her fortune to help pay down the national debt. A spokesman for the Treasury Department said it may be their largest donation ever.
Taylor died in November at age 98. She told her family that she planned to use her money to help people, but didn't reveal her plans.
The executor of her will said he tried to talk Taylor out of giving her money to the government, but she wouldn't listen. Attorney Tom Drake said Taylor was a staunch Democrat who believed the national debt should be paid off.
Yeah figures we get one well intentioned, clear thinking Democrat and we had to find out posthumously.
What a waste. Her family must be pissed.
Best laugh of the day.
Giving government money and expecting something good to happen? The family ought to be able to set this aside since she was obviously mentally incompetent.
Am curious how she accumulated over a million dollars to give back to the rich (Government).
LOL,I agree!
It's like trying to bail out the Titanic with a shotglass.
You know what this means?
WE CAN RAISE TAXES AGAIN!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Happy Day for lefties everywhere!
I doubt it. Every dollar of revenue the government gets is an excuse to increase spending by more than a dollar.
Frankly, what I'd like to see (never happen, though) would be for someone to publicly oppose the Republicans' tax cuts on the basis that they would increase government revenue, thereby increasing government's tendency to spend like drunken sailors.
My thoughts too
She's 98 years old. Children would be in their 70's,grandchildren in 50's, great grandchildren in 30's. Great-great-great granchildren in teen years and probably total strangers.
My wife's uncle just passed and he too was a darn good man and a democrat. Go figure. I met him several times and can personally attest to his integrity.
We found out in his obituary that he served in WWII as a gunners mate on one of the Liberty ships. I'm trying to find out which so I can trace his history during the war. I can kick myself for never asking because I thought he looked to young to have been in the war. He was married to my wifes mothers sister for over 50 years. Nearly 60.
"She`s a certified Idiot ."
Correction .... WAS a certified Idiot.
That money could have been given to the poor, the needy, a charitable organization. It could have been given to medical research, a university, a church, or her family. Any of these would have done more good than giving it to a government that has no sense of financial responsibility.
Giving money to the government is s stupid practice, especially when it robs us year after year in the form of income tax.
At least her heirs can't donate any of it to libs.
Wow! That's tagline country.
The woman's heart is in the right place, but the target she's aiming at is the wrong spot.
For example, setting up an office promoting free enterprise in Detroit might have made a dent in that democrat/socialist hellhole.
