Molly Ivins: I Won't Back Hillary

"I'd like to make it clear to the people who run the Democratic Party that I will not support Hillary Clinton for president.”

With that pronouncement, liberal syndicated columnist Molly Ivins begins a blistering column that castigates Hillary and the Democratic Party for failing to take a strong stand on a variety of issues important to liberals like her.

Et tu, Brute?

"Enough triangulation, calculation and equivocation. Enough clever straddling, enough not offending anyone,” Ivins writes in her column on CNN.com.

"Sen. Clinton is apparently incapable of taking a clear stand on the war in Iraq, and that alone is enough to disqualify her. Her failure to speak out on Terri Schiavo, not to mention that gross pandering on flag-burning, are just contemptible little dodges ...

"There are times when regular politics will not do, and this is one of those times. There are times a country is so tired of bull that only the truth can provide relief.

"If no one in conventional-wisdom politics has the courage to speak up and say what needs to be said, then you go out and find some obscure junior senator from Minnesota with the guts to do it. In 1968, Gene McCarthy was the little boy who said out loud, ‘Look, the emperor isn't wearing any clothes.’”

Ivins says the majority of Americans believe the war in Iraq is a mistake and the U.S. should get out, and a majority are also in favor of raising the minimum wage, repealing President Bush’s tax cuts, imposing a windfall profits tax on big oil companies and reducing the deficit not by cutting domestic spending, but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.

"That is the center, you fools,” Ivins tells Hillary and the Democrats. "WHO ARE YOU AFRAID OF?”

For "pragmatic folk” like Hillary, Joe Biden and Joe Lieberman, Ivins urges: "Oh come on, people - get a grip on the concept of leadership ...

"Do not sit there cowering and pretending the only way to win is as Republican-lite. If the Washington-based party can't get up and fight, we'll find someone who can.”

In 1968, Gene McCarthy was the little boy who said out loud, ‘Look, the emperor isn't wearing any clothes.’

Yep. And then McCarthy went on to win the Democrat nomination for the Presidency before trouncing Richard Nixon in the election lose the Democrat nomination to Hubert Humphrey who lost the election to Richard Nixon.

But libs like Ivins continue to think of McCarthy as a hero, just as they worship McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry--all liberals, all out of touch and all losers.

Molly is a grotesque creature. The only one worse was Janet (The Waco Kid) Reno.

I sure wish Hillary would listen to Molly and speak out on those important issues.

Her demeanor, that of a screeching left wing hag, is not a good mix with her age. The campaign trail is not going to be kind to her at all.

Hey Mol' lay off it. Did you not get the memo that we're keeping a foot on each side of the fence til we're in. You'll get multiple coupons for the Lincun Bedroom.

She really believes this, doesn't she...Dear God, pulleeeze let the 'rats run on this platform. We'll have another 49 state blowout a la McGovern or Mondale.

This is going to be a great presidential campaign next time watching these Dems. have to tear themselves between pandering to the liberal looney base of their party and pretending to be reasonable moderates to the rest of America. I can't wait to watch the Dem. presidential candidates all look like Sybil with their split personalities between pandering to the Michael Moore/Cindy Sheehan/Moveon.org wing of the leftist movement and having to still pay lip service to being moderate to independent and swing voters. Dems. are so certain the next couple elections are theirs, but with the absolutely schizophrenic, "all things to all people" campaigns they're going to have to run it's nearly hopeless for them to re-take Congress or win the White House.

The fact is, Cow Ivins and other extremists just like her are making it impossible for Democratic politicians to seem reasonable and adult to normal voters. If they have to give in to talking like the looney left with pronouncements about plantations and early withdrawls from Iraq, it's over for them.

Wouldn't it be neat if the witch causes the hard core RATS to form a third party ? Oh yea, there already is a third party, the Greens. The witch is toast, bet on it.

"I will not support Hillary Clinton for president."

Even if the Beast wins that election, she would have a tough time getting anything passed by the plantation leaders...
