FINDLAY, Ohio - A woman who died Nov. 9 at age 98 has bequeathed her $1.1 million estate to the federal government and requested that it be used to help pay down the $8.1 trillion national debt.
Attorney Tom Drake, the executor of Margaret Elizabeth Taylor's estate, said his client made it "very clear" what her fortune was to be used for. Her will was filed recently in Hancock County Probate Court.
Taylor, of Findlay, was a staunch Democrat who believed the national debt should be paid off and she wanted to do her part, Drake said.

I've read that this kind of thing was surprisingly common once upon a time, particularly among immigrants who felt that America had been good to them.
One thing's for damn certain...given that Mother Teresa pays an effective tax rate of about 10% and given the filthy (tax) stunt that Teddy played with his mother's estate...and got away with....we won't see either of these breathtakingly rich "progressives" doing anything like this!!!!
After all, they're only "generous" with *other* people's money.

Nope. It's a meaningless and wasteful gesture.

There are tax forms from the IRS that lets them pay more if they want. See if you can get copies and give them to them. See if they really mean it.
I guarantee that when they say "we", they mean "the rich people."

I actually respect that. A Democrat recently told me we should be taxed more to pay down the debt. I told him to put his money where his mouth is... I agree 100%.If the Kerrys, for example, think that the government needs more money, they needn't wait for any tax increases to be passed, for it *is* legal to "donate" money to the US Treasury over and above what you're required to pay under the law.

Ack!
Didn't she realize how many cat toys that could have bought!

A Democrat who puts their money where their mouth is, even if posthumously. Ya gotta respect that. Rest In Peace.

One more person who doesn't understand the National Debt, only this time, her ignorance cost her estate $1.1M.
I wonder what she would say if she knew the National Debt was money actually owed to her, not money she owed..
She would have far more impact if she left that money to a school or charity.

Taylor, of Findlay, was a staunch Democrat who believed the national debt should be paid off and she wanted to do her part, Drake said. The irony? Because she voted Democrat all those years, her wealth was diminished and the national debt was increased.

The Feds. would have gotten most of it in the end, Death Tax.
You have to pay the feds. to die in America.

I hope her heirs dont need the money ,because she just tossed away 1.1 million into somebody's pork barrel.People are free to do anything they wish with their property. Sadly, we'll probably be running a similar article in a few years for mommy dearest. The hateful witch will be needing me to spoon feed her one day...

"I wonder what she would say if she knew the National Debt was money actually owed to her, not money she owed." Actually, the National Debt it is owed only to those who have bonds backing the debt. If she has no US bonds, then it isn't owed to her.

Which is almost anyone with a retirement account or a bank savings account. Plus most people are indirect creditors through their actions in every segment of the economy.

If only someone would do this every day, we could pay off the debt in just over 200 centuries (if we stopped spending money, that is).
To: TXBSAFH
Some congressman will fritter it away on pork no doubt. That $1.1 million could pay for 30 feet of the Alaskan Bridge to Nowhere.

If only another 8 million or so others would do the same it would pay off the entire debt.

FINDLAY, Ohio - A woman who died Nov. 9 at age 98 has bequeathed her $1.1 million estate to the federal government and requested that it be used to help pay down the $8.1 trillion national debt. This means the government will spend $2 million more because of this windfall.
