$1.1M left to pay on U.S. debt

FINDLAY, Ohio - A woman who died Nov. 9 at age 98 has bequeathed her $1.1 million estate to the federal government and requested that it be used to help pay down the $8.1 trillion national debt.

Attorney Tom Drake, the executor of Margaret Elizabeth Taylor's estate, said his client made it "very clear" what her fortune was to be used for. Her will was filed recently in Hancock County Probate Court.

Taylor, of Findlay, was a staunch Democrat who believed the national debt should be paid off and she wanted to do her part, Drake said.

I've read that this kind of thing was surprisingly common once upon a time,particularly among immigrants who felt that America had been good to them.

One thing's for damn certain...given that Mother Teresa pays an effective tax rate of about 10% and given the filthy (tax) stunt that Teddy played with his mother's estate...and got away with....we won't see either of these breathtakingly rich "progressives" doing anything like this!!!!

There are tax forms from the IRS that lets them pay more if they want. See if you can get copies and give them to them. See if they really mean it.

I agree 100%.If the Kerrys,for example,think that the government needs more money,they needn't wait for any tax increases to be passed,for it *is* legal to "donate" money to the US Treasury over and above what you're required to pay under the law.

I wonder what she would say if she knew the National Debt was money actually owed to her, not money she owed..

She would have far more impact if she left that money to a school or charity.
