Soldiers' Angels has received over 500 adoption submissions from soldiers during the past week.

These men and women have volunteered to serve our country and deserve our support.

Although SA has a "re-enlistment" rate of about 75% among existing Angels who re-adopt after their soldiers' redeployments, we would love to welcome new Angels to the SA family!

To adopt a Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine, click on the "Adopt a Soldier" link in the upper left-hand corner. Adoption FAQs can be found here.

If adopting isn't for you, Soldiers' Angels also has a Letter Writing Team for those who enjoy writing to our heroes and know how important it is to hear their names called at mail call.

You may sign up for as many days in the week as you want. On that day each week, your assigned LWT "Team Leader" will send you a new name and address to write to. You are only asked to send one card or letter to each address you receive, but of course may send more if you like.

Dang..I have 'adopted' several soldiers through the site and not one of them have ever written back or let me know if they received the packages I sent over. I hope they did! ;)

The Angel's Soldiers people are super nice and caring...great bunch of patriots!

Some soldiers are terrible at writing. Some would rather email. I am so thankful my son uses Yahoo messenger, I may never hear from him otherwise.

I understand they are probably out where there is no email etc. My concern is if they actually received the packages! LOL!

I am a Soldier's Angel as well and have 3, not including my son that is currently deployed. I do hear from all but 1 of them. However it is hard for some to write. Depending on the unit he (or she) is in and the location.

Maybe put a package of stationary or note cards in your care package to make it easier for them.

I had mentioned that all but one of my Soldier's had been in contact with me. Well I finally heard from that one Soldier. I decided to put my email address in the letter and that is how he contacted me. He sent me the sweetest thank you note and I will share what finally did it.

On a whim I was at the Dollar Store and bought a bunch of Whooopie Cushions. I sent one to each of my Soldier's. I had an overwhelming response. Each one of my Soldier's wrote me and told me how much they enjoyed it and how much fun they had with them. Every one of them said it had made their day and what a chuckle they got out of it. Some even shared the stories of who they played tricks on with their little gifts and had me cracking up, lol.

Here is a portion of his note "First and for most, I want to apologize for taking so long to write back after all the letters and goodies you have sent me. I am really sorry and I really dont have an excuse. I really appreciate everything that you have sent me. The last couple packages I have received from you, they came at times where I would be in deep thought about not reenlisting and wanting to leave the armed forces for good or just down for some reason. When I got the whoopi cushion, I couldn't do anything but laugh all day and I needed that humor. I think that is one thing that some of the people around me fail to realize is that through all the rain and the pain, you gotta keep your sense of humor. So, the whoopi cushion was great. Thank you. "

So don't give up, you may still hear from them. Just enclose your e-mail address in your next letter.
