The guy was probably adulterous with some powerful guy's wife and had to go, they sent Guido and you finally found him today.

His clothes were also preserved and made of polyester fibers with a wide collar and stitched pockets. His shoes are of a slick shine made from leather with platform heels. He was also wearing gold chins around his neck.

And people suggest ancient pagans were barbaric. *THEY* knew what to do with aristocrats.

Archaeologists believe that Clonycavan man was an aristocrat who may have been part of a ritualistic sacrifice. I've never heard of aristocrat sacrifice before. Murder, yes, sacrifice no.

"He has quite a forward-facing profile and not a very strong chin, but I don't think he'd look all that different to the faces you see today," she said.I guess not. It was only 2,500 years ago. He was a modern human.
On a different note, what were the territories now comprising France doing trading mousse with Bronze Age Irish Celts? Everyone knows Europe had no civilization until the Ottoman Empire enlightened it. (no sarcasm tag necessary, I hope)

Ned Kelly, the head of antiquities at the National Museum of Ireland, said: "My belief is that these burials are offerings to the gods of fertility by kings to ensure a successful reign."More likely - IF he was an aristocrat he was "sacrificed" to ensure leadership went to the one deemed "more worthy to rule" (in other words, his killer or the guy who hired it done)
Saying a man was ritually sacrificed by being bludgeoned from behind is strikingly similar to "he committed suicide by firing five shots into the back of his head"
