Members of the Victory detachment of the Rapid Equipping Force-Iraq, try Stay Alert chewing gum Jan. 13. Each piece of the gum contains 100 mg of caffeine, which is about the amount found in a six-ounce cup of coffee.

Even as a non smoker I miss the old C-rations, that little four pack of cigarettes could be used for trading and every now and again I smoked one myself just to to myself "Things are good."

Sometimes the best feeling in the world is getting a cigarette lit in a driving rain as the water dripped off your PC.

I found the simple act of chewing gum keeps me more alert on long drives, with the addition of caffiene it should "git 'er done".

I would just mix up the instant coffee and the chiclets from the MRE.

As I recall, Army coffee was thick enough to chew.

Next on the list for some moronic house democrat looking for something other than real work to do. Ensure that this gum is banned from school and kids.

I'll never forget the ass-chewing I got when I removed some "unnecessary" equipment from my FDC track and installed a "silver bullet" coffee percolator.

CO and the Bn Cdr were pissed when they saw it in the field, but they came around every night and every morning for the latest batch. The chow wagon wasn't even set up and everybody in the HQ was wired ;)

After that, I never heard a word about it.

Any idea if this is going to hit the general market?

Methinks this would be a hot sell--especially among college students...

Everything usually does, first at the Army/Navy Surplus Stores, then the Camping stores, then Wal-Mart.

I get plenty of things at the local Army surplus outlet--especially backpacks, camping gear, etc.

Just'll have to keep my eyes peeled for them...

Coming soon...Starbucks Cappuccino flavored Gummi Bears.

I was really tired one morning, and needed something to jump start me... I slammed 3 of those Starbucks "Double Shots," and you know what? I WAS AWAKE for quite some time... And very alert... On the lookout for bathrooms!

Don't ever do that on an empty stomach!

Caffine: My drug of choice.

Typically, I obtain mine through a product called, "Diet Pepsi."

I actually saw something that I couldn't believe in a grocery store: In the soda aisle, there were 2 liter bottles of Caffine Free, Diet Mountain Dew! I couldn't believe it! The only reason people drink Mountain Dew in the first place is for the caffine and sugar rush!
