A Day in the Life of President Bush (and Laura, overseas; photos): 1.18.06

At the White House, the president met with current and former Iraqi citizens, victims of Saddam Hussein's regime.

Laura Bush continues her African visit (with her daughter, Barbara). She criticized Senator Clinton for suggesting that the Republican-controlled House is run like a plantation where dissenting voices are ignored. "It's a ridiculous comment," Mrs. Bush told reporters when asked about the remark. She headed home after reaffirming the U.S. commitment to help Nigeria treat AIDS patients and stem the spread of HIV. She said she hoped that "one day an entire generation" will be free of the disease that has ravaged Africa. Earlier, Mrs. Bush drove to the dusty outskirts of Abuja to visit a small AIDS clinic where a young woman told her of how drugs helped her escape death from the disease. Mrs. Bush visited a hospital, where there were enough anti-retroviral drugs to treat 500 people over the next year. It is the first U.S.- backed shipment of the drugs St. Mary's has received through President Bush's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

Americans Must Understand U.S. is at War: "The American people must remind themselves every day that the United States is at war, Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, speaking at the American Enterprise Institute here, said today."

Don't forget W in the collage. Thanks.

My approach is smiling Americans versus scowling-hatefull-(a)mericans.

Does anyone have the collage showing the beautiful smiling Republican women vs. the ugly DUmmie hags? That would be a good one for Cobra to send to liberal friends. I thought I had it saved and couldn't find it.

It's windy as all get out here. Yesterday it was in the 70's; today in the 50's. It's so windy in the south, the space shuttle has been postponed for two day. Maybe tomorrow.

Pictures from yesterday of the VP

Vice President Dick Cheney speaks with Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif upon departure from Cairo International Airport, Tuesday January 17, 2006. After meeting with Egyptian officials the Vice President traveled on to meet with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and then to Kuwait to offer condolences following the death of its ruler, Emir Sheik Jaber al-Ahmed al-Sabah.

Followed by a group of Saudi and US delegates, Vice President Dick Cheney walks down a red carpet with Prince Saud al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, upon arrival to King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia, Tuesday January 17, 2006.

My favourite one

Vice President Dick Cheney and King Abdullah make their way through Saudi sands on the way to the King's desert camp outside Riyadh, Tuesday January 17, 2006

I love to hear children and new Christians pray, because they're not so caught up with the cliches we come to use as adults or as Christians for many years. Sounds like you did a good job explaining things to her.
