Dem Strategist: "At Least People on Plantations Were Doing a Job"
Fox News/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/18/2006 6:42:46 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Trying to put out the fire that Hillary's "plantation" remark started, Dem strategist Elaine Kamarck might unintentionally have added fuel to it in a just-completed Fox News interview.

In fairness, Karmarck, pictured here, an advisor on the Gore 2000 campaign, did not unequivocally defend Hillary's comments, even saying that she personally would not have used the 'p' word.

But in defending the thrust of Clinton's remarks, Kamarck stuck her foot in it. She said "plantations were terrible places where people were forced to do various jobs. But at least they were doing a job." She then went on to accuse Congress of not doing its job.

Can you imagine the MSM outrage if a Republican politician had suggested that at least slaves had a job?

In any case, I'm not sure that's quite the employment policy the Dems want to be promoting.

I am now hoping for a threefer.

I don't know they will say next, but I hope the next Dem effort at spin control includes a gratuitous reference to fried chicken or watermelon.

Just when I think I've heard every stupid thing that a demonRAT can say, they come up with one that tops the last statement. As the General in New Orleans once said, "You are stuck on stupid". How does Karl Rove make them say such things?

"I am now hoping for a threefer."

Well, we haven't heard from Dr. Demento Dean yet! He's always good for a crazy sound-bite! (or yell or screech or something!)

OK, I hate to sound like too big a contrarian here...but...there were plantations in the south where black folk were treated quite well.

I know, I know, slavery was evil, and always will be, just like murder and rape. I am a merely trying to counterpoint the young lady's comments that all plantations were awful, terrible places. Many were not.

I just saw a tiny piece of MSNBC where both Imus and Chris Matthews were making fun of algore. They were right (for once) algore made a fool out of himself again. He seems to come up out of his hole about once a year and scream and yell and then disappear.
