Alito: Victim of Leftist Racism
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | January 18, 2006 | Michael P. Tremoglie

The invective spouted by the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats during Judge Samuel Alito’s confirmation hearing for appointment to the Supreme Court was incredible.

The Democrats, on orders from their feminist ringmasters, did anything they could to tarnish Alito’s record. Since they could not condemn Alito’s competence, they did what liberals normally do: spew ad hominems. They implied Alito is a racist, sexist, homophobe, who wants an imperial presidency and will condemn the working person to a life of poverty.

Their proof? They had nothing except distortions of Alito’s record. One of the more egregious misrepresentations was Alito’s membership in a Princeton alumni organization: Concerned Alumni of Princeton (CAP). This group was founded to oppose Princeton's opposition to ROTC but during the hearings became known for its opposition to Princeton's establishing quotas for women and minorities. One the most vociferous – and hypocritical - critics was Senator Kennedy, who said, ''His explanations about the membership in this sort of radical group…are extremely troubling." Kennedy’s statement is vile hypocrisy considering his membership in the Owl Club, an all-white group that barred women.

CAP was especially controversial because of some offensive essays published by its magazine, Prospect. The magazine did have a disclaimer that the articles were the author’s opinions not theirs. Ironically, New Jersey Democrat Senator Bill Bradley, a staunch leftist, was a founding member of CAP and Prospect’s advisory board. He later resigned because of ideological differences.

Alito states he does not recall joining CAP, yet admits he did since he stated so on an application he completed in 1985, more than a decade after he left Princeton. The only possible reason he would have joined, Alito stated, was that he was concerned about the hostility towards the Princeton ROTC program that existed on campus while he was a student. Alito was in the ROTC program.

According to retired NJ Judge Andrew Napolitano, now a Fox News analyst, who was a classmate of Alito’s, and also in the ROTC, CAP was an advocate for retaining Princeton’s ROTC program. Many wanted the program closed - indeed, protesters bombed the ROTC office.

Alito’s CAP membership was distorted by Democrat Senators Kennedy and Durbin to sound like membership in the Ku Klux Klan (ironic considering revered Democrat senior senator, Robert Byrd, is a former Klansman). Yet, no one has accused Bradley of being sexist or racist. Although he did resign, he was still a Klucker - more important than Alito.

However, Senators Kennedy, Durbin, and some others demanded Alito’s membership be investigated because this "was a matter of civil rights." Kennedy insisted on subpoenaing CAP’s records from the Library of Congress. A subsequent review of these records revealed no mention of Alito’s name.

The fact is, today the real racism is from leftists. Consider these reactions by those opposed to Alito’s confirmation:

A memo circulated by Democrats last November that cast aspersions about Alito’s Italian heritage. MSNBC-TV’s political talkshow host Chris Matthews, a former Democrat staffer, mentioned thie memo during his TV show:

I'm sitting here holding in my hands a pretty disgusting document. This is put out not for attribution, but it comes from the Democrats. They're circulating it; I can say that. The first thing they nail about this Italian-American is he failed to win a mob conviction in a trial...way back in '88. In other words, they nail him on not putting some Italian mobsters in jail from the family. Why would they bring up this ethnically charged issue as the first item they raise against Judge Alito?…This is either a very bad coincidence or very bad politics.

As it was this memo – like everything else the Democrats did – was a distortion.

Another inquiry they can make is to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. They called Alito "Machine Gun Sammy." This was an obvious reference to Italian mobsters. The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and the Order of the Sons of Italy (OSIA) deemed this offensive.

After they complete that they can summon Bernard McGuirk a producer of the Don Imus radio show. He called Alito "some meatball-sucking wop,"

Then Kennedy, Durbin, et. al., can subpoena the antiBush blog, Bring it On. It contains this charming post, "OMG -- Alito’s a Wop."

When that is complete, they can subpoena Arianna Hunffington’s blog. Erik Schmelzer’s alleged satire referred to Alito as: Sam Al-Guido, Al-Vito Corleone, Benito Alito, Judge WOP-ner and other similar "satirical" names.

So dire has been this ethnic slurring campaign that both OSIA and NIAF have issued several condemnations. NIAF chairman Kenneth Ciongoli, M.D. wrote an article citing that cartoonist Patrick Oliphant portrayed Alito wearing 1920’s mobster clothes hunting with a machine gun. He also mentioned that, "a media report actually said that, ‘jack booted thug’, fit (Alito) because he is the son of an Italian immigrant."

This is nothing new. Leftists have always engaged in racism. White left-wing cartoonist Ted Rall called Condi Rice a "house nigga." The black president of the LSU College Democrats called Eastern Indian-American, Bobby Jindal, Republican gubernatorial candidate a "Do Boy."

This is what the Left considers acceptable racism - directed against minorities (or ethnic whites) who dare decline from leftist orthodoxy.

Ted Kennedy Drops Club, Hypocrisy Clear

Breaking from NewsMax.com

After ripping Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito for what Senator Ted Kennedy called "troubling" ties to a social club at Princeton University, Kennedy is distancing himself from his own curious ties to a club at Harvard University.

As previously reported by NewsMax, Kennedy is a member of The Owl Club, a social club for Harvard alumni that bans women from membership. Ironically, the Owl Club, long reviled at Harvard as "sexist," was evicted from the campus in 1984 for violating federal anti-discrimination laws authored by Kennedy.

According to the Boston Herald, Kennedy was questioned on his status as an Owl Club member by Boston TV station WHDH. Kennedy said, "I'm not a member; I continue to pay about $100."

However, according to the membership directory of the Owl Club, Kennedy updated his personal information as recently as September 7.

When told by the TV reporter that the Owl Club discriminates against women, Kennedy said, "I shouldn't be and I'm going to get out as fast as I can."

Democrats can't be racist.

What's the party that fought to keep segregation in the 60's and 70's?

Oh right. That was the democrats.

What party ran a segregationist candidate for President in the 60's?

I guess that was the democrats too.

Why exactly do people think the democratic party helps minorities? Robert Byrd (D) Was a "Grand Keagle" of the KKK before publicly renouncing his membership so that he could carry his racist agenda in private.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/presidents/35_kennedy/filmmore/filmscript.html just a little about the great Kennedy family starting with the Nazi lover Joseph the dad...
