A 42-year-old North Carolina AIDS activist, who said his highest priority was talking to kids about the disease, has been busted, along with his roommate for raping a 13-year-old boy.
Ricky Odell Yow, 42, the founder of Global Wheel of Hope, an organization that performs AIDS-HIV education in schools and who just last month was the subject of a heart-rending feature story in the Greensboro News & Record, is now being held on $1.5 million bond after being charged with five counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, three counts each of a first-degree sex offense with a child, using a minor to assist in an obscenity, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, crimes against nature and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The crimes took place last year, but just 30 days ago, Yow was telling a local reporter how he shows children as young as 12 photos of his brother, who died of AIDS, and shares his own story.
"When I tell them I have AIDS, they'll listen," he explained.
One of his organization's directors, Samuel Powell, agreed: "It makes them more inclined to listen and ask questions that can sometimes be tough to ask. He can talk to people and get them to respond."
But, apparently, Yow did more than talk.
He and Douglas Wayne Murphy, his roommate, are both charged with victimizing the boy potentially, of course, spreading AIDS and a death sentence to the youngster.
Yow was first asked to speak in public schools by Crystal Taylor, then executive director of Alamance Cares, another AIDS "service organization."
"I said, 'You've got a vital piece of this that I can't give," she explained. "He can tell kids, 'This is not the life you want.' He can say, 'I understand.'"
And what a message he brings to kids: "HIV isn't the easiest thing in the world to get," he says as long as you practice safe sex.
Yow told the local paper last month that he is on a mission "to turn what once looked like a roadblock into a way to give back and change the world or at least his corner of North Carolina."
"Now I'm living for my future instead of planning for my death," he said.
Yow's program is in part funded by Americorps VISTA, a phony, fraudulent federal agency that pays "volunteers" like Yow to do good deeds with tax money extracted from you by force.
He hands out condoms and tells little kids it's OK to have sex with AIDS victims presumably including him.
He boasted that he expected to "make contact" with as many as 4,000 people in 2006 most of them between the ages of 12 and 24.
Yow found out he had AIDS when he was 24. Two years later, he said, he met his "life partner" Murphy, now charged with Yow in the crimes against the boy.
In the house where the 13-year-old boy was allegedly attacked, a plaque hangs on the gate that leads to the back yard: "Peace to all who enter here."
He talked last month of selling the mobile home he shares with Murphy and buying a brick house nearby with a big yard and two-car garage all presumably subsidized with your tax dollars.
Yow says AIDS has taken nearly everything from him but his life.
"I think God does everything for a reason," he says. "I still feel this is something God meant for me to go through. It was his way of making me see things in my life I needed to change."
It seems Yow was quite a partier. He began drinking heavily going on reckless binges and sometimes getting in fights.
After the death of his brother from AIDS, Yow says that all changed.
"That's when I started my 360-degree turn," he said.
That may sound like a non-sequitur given that a 360-degree turn keeps you heading in the same direction.
But, of course, if the charges against Yow and his roommate have any merit, he really hasn't changed directions. What he did was start sharing the "good news" of AIDS with kids.
That's what government-sponsored "AIDS education" is really all about. It's OK to have sex as long as you do it with condoms.
It's false message. It's a dangerous message. And clearly it was especially dangerous for at least one 13-year-old.
A seriously bad one.
You are absolutely right. Minimizing the horrible crime of raping a 13 year old kid - and homosexual sodomy rape at that - is a crime in itself. It is part and parcel of the movement to promote "intergenerational sex" as benign or even good. The author may not be aware of this movement, might just be an unconscious zeitgeist following pawn; or he might be aware of what he's doing.
Yes, agreed...the article, writer of it, reveals the dulling down of focus, if not redirected focus, of an affected awareness. May not be individually intended so much as a reflection of the problematic cultural process of recent times.
"Ricky Odell Yow, 42, the founder of Global Wheel of Hope"
and his wretched behavior for what it is
"raping a 13-year-old boy.
five counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, three counts each of a first-degree sex offense with a child, using a minor to assist in an obscenity, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, crimes against nature and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor."
"That's what government-sponsored "AIDS education" is really all about."
Wonder who did the background check on Ricky. I'd give odds that he's got prior offenses.
When he rapes them he should be charged with at a minimum attempted murder...
I wrote, "avoids naming the guy" as reference to the fact that the "guy" is a rapist with AIDS who is aware of his infectious condition who forcibly raped a male child.
The details...are significant. It's like referring to "gay" people instead of homosexuals and homosexual behaviors. Note the language involved.
Bump
"forcibly raped" is an oxymoron, I realize.
There appears to be more emphasis in the article on the fact that the homosexual, child rapist with AIDS is a defrauder of "federal" programs, etc.
And I note the focus, also, on the homosexual, child rapist with AIDS' comments and quotes about "God."
This man doesn't know God. And God, the real One, did not give the guy AIDS. People like that...I don't know, whether he's more corrupt, evil, because of what he's done or that he's done what he's done and thereby become evil.
But even including his profanities about who he instructs children as to how he defines "God" doesn't even seem reasonable. I think the quotes would better have been dumped in the garbage along with the soul this guy has thrown away...his own.
Where does he get the moeny to form an organization? Tax dollars? Bet on it...
Let me tell you about the gay straight alliance groups planting themselves in public schools all over the country. Bill Weld introduced and forced them in Masshole public schools when he was governor.
Their meetings are secret - no one is allowed to tell others outside the club meetings what happens inside. A spy was sent to statewide meeting sponsored by Celluci's Department of Education for kids aged 12 to 19 and this also included interested educators.
I can't even say what they told the kids to do to one another's bodies because it would be porn and banned from this site. I can tell you they planted questions in the audience in order to talk dirty to the kids claiming the kids wanted to know... They suggested that having sex with a more experienced partner (an adult) was perferable over sex with a peer. They suggested that it is hate to condemn fellow homos for not using a condom because it is insensitive... In short they advocated sucide and pedophilia. There is a tape that was made undercover during the meeting and the gays have been suing the guy who made it public ever since with activist State judges trying to help the cause of secrecy.
Aids education is an excuse for homos to talk dirty to other people's kids school wide. There will be a boat load of boys coming forward in the future to talk about sexual moleston in these secret kiddie sex groups called the gay straight alliance.
How can we have in America secret meetings in public places. THis is worse than violation of church and state sponsorship.
That's the reality of what homosexuality is and is about. It's a cultural process of violation and in my opinion, people who cross one boundary will continue to cross them. The age issue -- even our Supreme Court Ginsberg thinks twelve is a reasonable age of sexuality and "consent" -- is a mere stumbling block of symantics for homosexuals.
I've read the retorts and I know some of them claim that they're apart and separate from those who predate upon children, but also I doubt that in reality.
The "gay straight alliance" groups and memberships, you're right, are beneath contempt.
And all too sadly, the guy who made the tape is alone with no lawyer to really defend him and the general moral cowardice of liberals out East in Salem fashion witch hunt gone out of control seem to make people who speak up more and more alone.
Just when one thinks that Liberals have a leadership problem, one finds that Liberals are actualy despicable with a despicable agenda.
Yes, the guy was struggling with legal expenses at one point. I think someone might quietly have come to his aid though because last time I asked if he needed money, he changed the subject. Things are very wierd politically in Masshole around anyone who challenges the queers' right to sexaully access other people's children in public schools.
That's the usual media M.O. I watched a History Internation channel show on Che Guevera yesterday; the interviews were all glowing from people who either knew or idolized him. The show would pretend to provide balanced commentary, but intersparse it with the glowing interviews.
I thoroughly dislike the media.
Sorry to get off-topic. This guy should fry. The whole point of the homosexual agenda getting into schools is recruitment. Evidently, when that doesn't work, they fall back to rape.
The details...are significant.
Well, I think those details are in the story. I learned of them in this story and nowhere else.
What I also find significant is that this story and other homosexual child rape stories are buried. I had not heard of this incident until this thread.
I guarantee that if these had been two Catholic priests every major news outlet in the country would have been very, very "concerned". They would not have let the story die. They would have rightly blamed the institution directly and demanded action and accountability. But since the institution that supported this particular horror show was "AmeriCorp" and the "education" establishment, then it's just a story of local interest only. And the institution is not held accountable.
No, and yes, I realize what you meant and were noticing about what I wrote, but what I wrote earlier was cursory in the sense that I used the expression, that the article "avoids naming the guy" in reference to NAMING the offender, DESCRIBING HIS DEEDS beyond a certain point.
Yes, the details to a great degree are in the article, including the name, what he's been charged with, descriptions of his organization and such.
I do perceive a degree of withholding, however, as to the actual DREADFUL implications, the reality of the deeds themselves. The article devotes more focus, emphasis, to advising people that they've been ripped off as taxpayers and minimizes the fact that the guy RAPED A 13 YEAR OLD, and does not provide any attention beyond a mere statement about that...it suggests to me that the writer is perhaps already swayed into a bit of minimization and acceptance of the outrageous by popular culture, popular education and that the point is to feel sympathy for the AIDS guy.
Others here seem to have also noticed a certain tone there, that does not impress upon the reader just how badly and horrid this man's crimes are, nor does not include the liklihood and even possibility that there must surely be other victims. I really, really doubt that this poor child is his first victim, and most adults understand taht terrible point but not from the article.
That's what I meant, long story. The article tends to circumvent what could have been a far more direct rendition of how bad this situation is, and instead generates some energy only as to the repetition of the fact that the guy defrauded taxpayers. As if, "oh, and he also raped a thirteen year old" -- did the article even use the term, "rape"? I don't want to reread it before bedtime, which is why I ask.
"...charged with five counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, three counts each of a first-degree sex offense with a child, using a minor to assist in an obscenity, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, crimes against nature and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor..."
I think what most of us would prefer to read is that the guy -- AND his "partner" -- were hung up and left for the ants. Perhaps that's my point.
This is rrrrrrrreeeeaaaaaaaalllllllllllllly bad news for Gay-activist!
Yes.
"has been busted, along with his roommate for raping a 13-year-old boy."
If the writer intended to somehow engender sympathy for the AIDS rapists, he failed to do so, for me anyway. I don't think that's Joseph Farah's intention.
I'm still wondering where the major media "concern" about a murderous and corrupt public institution is. Where's Oprah? Where are the ambulance chasers announcing multi-million dollar lawsuits to packed press conferences?
