Guitarist Jimmy Page of the band Led Zeppelin has been voted the top guitar soloist of all time for the song Stairway to heaven.

how about the great Ted Nugent riff from "The Great White Buffalo"?
Can we trade lives? Just for a few hours anyway, hehe?
As a picker who has studied many styles, and played country, jazz, pop, rock, bluegrass, folk and whatever else they'd pay me for, I can agree about the amazing ability of Chet Atkins. I was lucky enough to meet Chet, and spend an afternoon with him once. We were just pickin' when he called in and introduced to us a young man who HE said was the best......Jerry Reed. Couldn't argue with him.....Reed was incredibly creative.
Gotta include Joe Walsh in "Rocky Mountain Way" or back when he was in the James Gang "Funk#49" although the Eagles did get some credit.
I think there are a couple of tracks that Kenny Wayne Shepard has laid down that, while outside the strick genre, still deserve a mention: Ledbetter Heights, Born with a Broken Heart and Aberdeen.
As Jazz has been mentioned as well, I might ask if anyone bought and listened to Kevin Eubank's album from fifteen years back, "Heat of Heat"? Of course, jazz is like rock, once you start to name the names, it never stops.
Picking obscure Yes songs-that's not hard, there's too many obscure ones. That's fun-I'll start with "Siberian Khatru"(not all that obscure, but still...) Did you ever notice that Jon Anderson spelled "wonderous", "wondrous"?
I think "Blue Sky" by the Allman Brother definitely belongs among the top five on this list.
Nope...."Victims Of The Fury" CD is in my car right now.
Trower Rocked!

Same thing as a solo duet.
I love old bluegrass("Awful Dreadful Snake",ie)and Jerry reed-am I thinking of the right guy? The guy who sang "When You're Hot You're Hot" and "East Bound And Down"?
I was partial to Henrix's live version of "Little Wing".

What ever happened to Alvin Lee and 10 Years After?
There was really only one Chuck Berry song. They just kept releasing it with different titles and lyrics.
Ditto
9. Crazy Train - Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne)
10. Crossroads - Eric Clapton (Cream)
11. Talk Dirty To Me - C.C. Deville (Poison)
(*snicker*)
