After the Alito hearings and the latest comments from Hildebeast, Howard Dean, and AlGore, it wouldn't surprise me if the Dims lose a few more seats because no one would want to associate themselves with this kind of slime

The Republicans have done a poor job of getting their best potential candidates to run in these states with vulnerable Democrat Senators.
If they can't mount an effective challenge to Hillary's re-election to the Senate, they will have a similar problem with her run for the White House in 08.
It's Hillary presidency, Bush told

Insight ^ | 17 January 2006 President Bush's advisers are resigned to the Democratic capture of the White House in 2008, according to senior Republican sources close to the White House. GOP sources said White House strategists have attempted to persuade Mr. Bush that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Democrat and her partys current front-runner to be the next presidential nominee, cannot be defeated in 2008. Bush strategists said the president should instead focus on seeking to retain the Republican majority in both houses of Congress in 2006 and 2008. "There is nobody in the White House that will openly say we lost the presidency...

If the Pubbies don't wrap their minds around the fact that Hillary is going to be nearly impossible to beat in 08, and act as such to defeat her, they will be replacing the Kerryites on the therapists' couches when she is sworn in. |

I have a VERY hard time believing that Hillary is a shoe-in for the presidency. A possibility, of course, but a certainty? Come on, you can't be serious.

There are too many people in this country that will come out of the woodwork to vote against her. Crowning her president at this point is laughable.

I am and you should be.
Who is the Dem opposition? No one. She trounced them all. She is the biggest party fundraiser -- meaning that she controls much of the party's funds, and she is the biggest party name. Look at how many still fawn over Bill. Look at the media gush over Hillary. Look at those like Tim McGraw who think Bill was the greatest President of all time (yeh, the Impeached and disgraced one).
Whos is the Pubbie opposition? McCain? Huckabee? Hagel? Frist? Gingrich? or any of the other dozen or so wannabes? The Pubbies don't have a strong slate of contenders. A few names, like Dr. Rice's, get tossed out. But remember those hoping Colin Powell would run in 00, and thankful he didn't after his poor showing as SoS.
Al Gore almost won, except for a few hundred votes in Florida. John Kerry almost won, except for a few thousand votes in Ohio. HC will get at least 95% of those, plus all the independent females who'd like to see a female President. As with most recent elections, the independents will be the deciding votes -- and they don't necessarily see HC the same was those on FR do.
You should treat her candidacy as the biggest, most powerful, threat the GOP has ever faced. If I'm wrong and she is defeated, okay. Otherwise, you may regret it == for 8 years. Take your pick. Treat her candidacy lightly, poo poo it, and hope she doesn't win? That didn't work for her first Senate run, now, did it.

Crowning her president at this point is laughable. While she will not be crowned, we must never, ever underestimate a Clinton again.
To do so, may cost us another 8 years.

We have learned to our pain that we must never underestimate the ignorance of the masses. Many voters believe that the contest between Democrats and Republicans is merely a contest between Team A and Team B.
Too many qualified voters do not vote. And many that do are swayed by TV ads and know absolutely nothing about the issues. In truth, candidates of both parties are very careful to keep the real issues off the table.
Anyone who votes Democrat does not understand pea turkey about the national or international situation.
At least with Republicans in power our government somewhat resembles the Constitutional rule of law intended by the Founders.
As for Dean's prediction, I believe the Democrat party is finished and that the mid-term elections will only add to their decline.

They're great for eating, just not for electing! :)

I thin that the democratic party push to impeach the president will result in a major anger in the public and a slight pickup in each legislative house for the GOP.

I don't think any Freeper takes her lightly, that's not what I'm saying. I am taking issue with the defeatist attitude that she's already won.
Will she be the Dem's pick? Sure, there's plenty of evidence for that. But to suggest that the Reps are going to run Gingrich against her (or any of the other weak candidates you selectively listed) is ridiculous. Owen and Allen are the stronger candidates - likable and able to sell conservatism.
You also must consider the Hildebeast's appeal to moderates and independents. Yeah, she'll get their base excited, but that just means the Reps will be similarly motivated to prevent her from claiming office. Somebody like Allen would more greatly appeal to the middle-of-the-road people. The Clinton co-presidency did not leave a good legacy, nor is Hillary Clinton a "likable" individual - certainly not as her husband was (and remember how few people voted for him).
All this in mind, yes, I'll do what I can to get our guy in office, but I think I've debunked the "certainty" thing.

Independent females?
Have any female friends, relatives?
Ask them if they would vote for her. You may change your thinking.

Amen. Just the thought of having to listen to that fishwife voice haranging us every night on the news should have people lining up to vote AGAINST her!
