U.S. Representative Bob Ney may be giving up his position.
A spokesman for Ney says he will temporarily step aside as chairman of a committee that oversees lobbying.
The Ohio Republican is at the center of the Justice Department's ongoing corruption probe. Lobbyist Jack Abramoff said in his guilty plea earlier this month that he bribed Ney on behalf of his clients.
A spokesman says Ney needs a few days to think about whether to give up his post on the House Adminstration Committee.

Nice try, but IMO, you are an OU(Ohio University) troll.
BTW, your hero Hackett has stepped in it.
Whereabouts in SE Ohio are you from? Just wondering.....
i am not a troll.
I DO NOT attend OHIO U.
I put my heart and my prayers into the 2004 election for our President.
zip...
I am from New Lexington, Ohio. About an hour southeast of Columbus.
Then why are you just parroting "bad" news articles from the liberal media, if you are not a troll.
Old story. Doctored headline.
Troll.
WHIZ-TV UHF 18 in Zanesville, Ohio is a small market local news station (where I posted the story from). I do not go by the liberal media. But this is a real concern,
I am worried that my state is going to go democratic because of Taft, Ney and ignorance. The last thing I want to see is this state turning blue.
I say the Republican Party in Ohio needs to step up for change. There is not enough attention put on rural southern Ohio. I fear that the Democrats are gaining support around here.
I guess I want the party I love to change for the better in my state.
Remember that we are the party of Ronald Reagan.
Old story...
Yet it is still at the TOP of the news page at that site.
I did not know how long this story had been out over here.
Also..
Paul Hackett is a total joke. I do not want him and Strickland winning anything here.
This state has been conservative for over 100 years.
I don't live in Ohio and I'm way ahead of you.
Why change the headline???
It's easier to copy and paste, but I'm sure you knew that.
I have been looking at this site for a couple of years.
I get a ZOT/OZONE for posting a TOP STORY from a local news site ?
I am upset.
I will copy and paste the exact headline from now on.
People get suspicious when newbies come in and post a lot of negative stories/articles or reposts of same already-known stories. Of course, some of our worst trolls are ones who have been on here for years... and they know who they are.
well. I am sorry..
I did not mean to run anything into the ground.
If anything, you can get a local television station and a local voters' perspective on the situation.
I can confirm that this is news in Southeastern Ohio.
Pop quiz:
1. What's the name of your high school's sports conference?
2. Who's your high school rival down St. Rt. 37?
3. What annual festival takes place down the road on St. Rt. 93?
4. Who is the famous Civil War General born in Perry County and has a monument there?
Ney is national news, not just in Ohio.
If the boy ain't into sports, he might not be able to answer the first two questions. I couldn't answer the first two regarding my own local high school.
This would be his local TV station in New Lexington. I grew up watching the same station.
