ACLU Calls on Americans to Tell the White House Stop Illegal Spying(Compares MLK Wiretapping To NSA)
ACLU ^ | 1/16/2006 | Unknown

NEW YORK - The American Civil Liberties Union today ran a full-page advertisement in the Washington Post criticizing the president for authorizing the National Security Agency to engage in illegal surveillance of Americans.

The ad invokes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights pioneer who was an innocent victim of illegal government wiretapping and draws the correlation between abuse of government power and illegal warrantless wiretapping authorized by President Bush.

"It has never been acceptable for the government to spy on Americans without having to go to court and present evidence as to why the individual is under suspicion. It was unacceptable when they spied on Martin Luther King and it is unacceptable today," said ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero. "This fundamental tenet of American democracy has been blatantly violated by President Bush and he must be held accountable. No one, most importantly our elected leader, is above the law.”

The full-page ad depicts the image of King with the reminder that “40 years ago, wiretapping innocent American citizens was an abuse of government power. It still is.” The ACLU provides the phone number for the White House and asks that people call and “Tell the administration to stop the illegal spying on Americans.” As a result of surveillance of citizens in the mid-70’s, Congress passed a law mandating that the government receive court approval before instigating wiretapping. It is this law that President Bush has blatantly violated, according to the ACLU.

And no matter what your feelings of MLK, he did not believe in violence to achieve political goals. Comparing him to those that do is horrible of the ACLU.

Notice how they automatically call the terror suspects innocent, and automatically call Bush guilty.

Au contraire, I've written my elected officials pressing for spying on the ACLU too. The ACLU is almost as dangerous to the US as Islamic terrorists, IMHO.

I submit to the ACLU nearly 3000 reasons of probable cause for this eavesdropping, the fatalities of 9/11.

ACLU Calls on Americans to Tell the White House Stop Illegal Spying

Dear ACLU:

I will be very happy to do exactly that as soon as I have any evidence of illegal spying.

We are a long way from that. A very long way.

Don't call me, I'll call you.

We got some 7th century mass-murdering maggots (and their sympathizers) to deal with first. After that, let's talk.

How does the ACLU define "Americans"? Were the NAZI sabotuers who landed on the beach on Long Island "Americans" because they made it to shore? Were the Fifth Columnists who ran the Safe Houses they stayed at "Americans" because they paid the rent?

The ACLU has lost it. They really have become an anti-American organization.

I can never get tired of repeating it: they have always been so. From the very start:

Roger Baldwin, the co-founder of the ACLU said: “I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately, for abolishing the state itself. … I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the properties class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal. I don’t regret being part of the communist tactic. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the communists wanted and I traveled the United Front road to get it.” In spite of Baldwin’s Communist leanings, President Jimmy Carter awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom on January 16, 1981.

Baldwin didn’t create the ACLU in a vacuum, he had plenty of help. A group of Communist Party officials, fellow travelers, anarchists and radicals joined Baldwin to found the ACLU in 1920.

The next time someone complains about these wiretaps ask them this. If FDR had had the option of putting a bug on Hitler's phone starting in 1938, should he have done so and listened to the war plans?

If they can look you in the face and say "No", laugh and back away.

I will be very happy to do exactly that as soon as I have any evidence of illegal spying.

Isn't it strange that not ONE single instance of an illegal wiretap has come forward with evidence of such? I find that incredulous.
