Mayor: New Orleans to be "chocolate" again

I'm thinking we should be saying he is one of the smarter state elected officials. That way the feds will dole out money veeery carefully and with full audits.

The last one we had was during Christmas season... they went through this whole schpiel about being "sensitive" to "including everybody" yadda yadda. I spoke first and said that as a Jew I demanded that Christmas be Christmas and not disrespect everybody by trying to make some polyglot holiday out of late December... plenty of smiles around the table on that one.

For those not old enough to remember, "chocolate city" was a term used by blacks back in the 60s and 70s. It meant that "once we vote or force whitey off the city council, the mayor's office, the school board, police department, etc., all our problems will disappear (since whitey's the cause of all the problems). Chocolate City!"

That's what I said the first time I heard about this "diversity program". Explaining to them logically that they were perpetuating the racist and sexist attitudes of four decades ago and actually doing signficiant damage to the ideals which constitute the purported reason for such programs to exist wasn't received too well.

I quit two weeks ago (giving about 3 and a half months' notice). Too much BS for someone like me... someone less concerned about actually achieving something at work besides merely taking home a check was more appropriate. By the time I was gone, it was ALL humor, I was openly mocking the dysfunctional modus operandus there. The kicker is that management thought I was laughing with them.
