Your Mental Attitude - Days of Chivalry

When the days of chivalry are mentioned, we usually think of a gallant knight rescuing a fair lady or treating her with unusual courtesy. Gallant the knights were-and certainly courteous…But the fundamental basis of chivalry was friendship. The Knights of the Round Table were a sworn brotherhood of men whose strongest ties were based on friendship. Perhaps the most celebrated knight of chivalry, the Chevalier de Bayard,
was famous above all else for his friendships.

Friendship is loyalty-to our family, to our job, to our community. It is not veering and tacking like a rudderless ship or playing both sides of the street
or using people just for our own advantage.

It is made up of little things-a thoughtful word at the right moment… a little kindness beyond the call of duty . . . a sense of understanding of the other fellow’s problem…a genuine liking for people . . . a sense of responsibility toward our associates.

It has often been said that we must BE a friend to HAVE a friend. And, like all the worthwhile things in life, friendship takes work and effort. We cannot take our friendships for granted. They are like the food we need at regular intervals-they must be given constant and diligent nourishment . . . We can no more get along in the world
without a friend than we could without food or the air we breathe.

One of the important things we learn is that friendship involves tolerance for the weaknesses of others-as these same people are tolerant of our own shortcomings . .

“Good friendships are those that wear well,” said Emerson.
When our attitudes are chivalrous,
we find that our friendships constantly grow stronger and richer.

“The age of chivalry is never past, so long as there is a wrong left unredressed on earth.”
Charles Kingsley

Me, too, Lady. Whether, like Ronald Reagan, from a better place, or like Sarge or CMS or txradioguy or Laurita or EV, just "away" from us. They are in our hearts so they are with us. (((hugs)))

LOL...I wasn't even thinking about the loss of heat, I was being totally selfish in my wish because my first thought was you wouldn't be here to post.

I will say prayers that you don't lose power, I wouldn't want you to be without heat!

New payroll system....millions of pieces of paper. Trying to tame them and make sure my folks got paid what they were supposed to before a whole new set arrives on Monday. I've just now hit a bump in the road. *sigh*

Several new inches of snow on the ground now. It snowed gently all night and continues. All the "dirty snow" has been covered with clean.

That's good Ma
I was thinking last night when I read about the ash that the snow may be dirty. I pray that Volcano stops activity. Have you heard what they suspect will happen with it?
HUGS!

Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the U.S. Mint in Washington. The nickel depicting Jefferson and launched into circulation today is the nation's first circulating coin that features the image of a United States president facing forward.

What this country needs is a good five cent nickel!

Reuters journalist Majeed Hameed embraces a colleague shortly after he and Ali al-Mashadani were released from Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad January 15, 2006. The U.S. military freed two Iraqi journalists who work for Reuters on Sunday after holding them for several months without charge. At least three other Iraqi journalists for international media, including a freelance cameraman working for Reuters in the northern town of Tal Afar, remain in custody.

Yup, no charge, the government pays for everything when they hold subversive anti-American reporters in custody.

Kuwaiti officials and members of the public offer their last prayers for the emir of Kuwait , Sheik Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, beside his grave at Sulaibikhat cemetery, Kuwait City on Sunday, Jan.15, 2006.

Is it me or do these people take the old saying "kick the bucket" too far?

I'm sorry, I just cannot help myself sometimes.

A local Iraqi looks at pet birds for sale at and open air market, Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, in Baghdad, Iraq. The Iraqi government is attempting to prevent an outbreak of avian flu by banning poultry imports from at least 20 countries, including neighbors such as Kuwait and Turkey which have reported cases over the last few months.

What is all this fuss about "Bird Flew?" I had a bird for years and he never went anywhere.

A group of reporters hold posters calling for the release of Al-Arabiya's Baghdad news reporter Majed Hameed Sunday Jan. 15, 2006 who was detained by US forces in Iraq, at Al Arabia building in Media City of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The U.S. military on Sunday released a reporter working for an Arab satellite news channel after a four-month detention, a U.S. Army general said.

While not working a few so called "journalists" decided to subvert US military operations during their spare time.

Relatives weep over the coffin of an Iraqi soldier during a funeral in Kirkuk, about  155 miles north of Baghdad, January 15, 2006. The soldier was kidnapped by insurgents seven days ago and was found dead today, residents said.

No protests were held by objective reporters concerning the death of an Iraqi hero.

Just another day of no football in Patriots Nation.
