You can read the full Prospect article on Kennedy's site. Its subject is a lawsuit by a female Princeton student who wanted to be admitted to an all-male eating club at the university. As the title suggests, it argues more broadly that elitism isn't a bad thing. The article is written in an arch style that doesn't do much for me, and I don't think it's very good. But there isn't anything especially offensive or even controversial in it.
Dinesh D'Souza was the editor of Prospect at the time, and he confirms that the article, by H. W. Crocker III, now an editor for Regnery Books, was a satire:
The essay may not have been funny, D'Souza acknowledges, but Kennedy read from it as if it had been serious instead of an attempt at humor. "I think left-wing groups have been feeding Senator Kennedy snippets and he has been mindlessly reciting them," D'Souza said. "It was a satire."
The bottom line is that if this is the most "offensive" article CAP was responsible for in its decade-plus of existence, the Democrats' whole guilt-by-association effort was much ado about nothing. If being associated, however remotely, with attempts at humor that don't turn out to be very funny is enough to place a public figure beyond the pale, the Democrats had better stay away from Al Franken.
Here is the only sentence in Crocker's CAP piece that mentions race: "Everywhere one turns blacks and hispanics (sic) are demanding jobs simply because they're black and hispanic (sic), the physically handicapped are trying to gain equal representation in professional sports, and homosexuals are demanding that government vouchsafe them the right to bear children."
Is anyone really so dim that they don't recognize this as (bad) humor?
How about this: "A world without Maxim's, Britain's Special Air Services Regiment, and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders would be well nigh intolerable for any people of discernment and taste."
The piece may not be particularly funny, but it is obviously an attempt at some variety of humor, perhaps parody. Whatever the piece is, it is not racist. I'm sure that Kennedy and the MSM will continue to pretend otherwise.
double super secret reverse satire??
Ted Kennedy is a monkey.
Yeah that $150K a year is really worth making an ass out of yourself and your party when you already worth tens of millions of dollars. The money Teddy makes in The Senate could not cover one of his bar tabs. Go back to DU and light some prayer candles for al Zawahiri.

If you think that a paycheck is all that Congressmen get for their efforts, and that you and I are not footing the bill for much more, then you may really be as stupid as your post indicated.
"Troll!"
Oh really?
You obviously missed the point I made. The American taxpayers are footing the bill for the sorry spectacle we witnessed in the Senate last week. If that was merely an isolated incident we might be excused for being so foolish as to keep paying for such rubbish. Unfortunately it isn't.
So, who are the fools? Those who are being enriched for their clowning, or those who are paying for it?
All you really have to do is listen to Kennedy for a while and he makes a joke out of himself
I've posted this many times before, and it's pertinent here:
An acquaintance who interned for Kennedy many years ago told me that the female staff was under strict instructions to never get into the elevator alone with Kennedy, for their own safety.
This is funny..now.

"Well, it's not as if Judge Alito is a spoiled trust baby who got kicked out of Harvard for cheating. Nor is he a United States senator who got drunk, drove a young female campaign worker to her death, then chose not report it to authorities until the next day, and then, only after calling his lawyer, concocting an alibi and developing a
strategy to contain the political fallout."
NYT published an article in which one Dem strategist opined that if Mrs. Alito had not cried, the Dems would have won that day. Sick sick sick.
No wonder that they lose so many elections.
I agree that Kasich is a nitwit :-)
A past tag of mine was something like the Democrats' were bitter and humorless because they're wrong about everything.
Michael Medved said this the day Kennedy threw a hissy about the CAP piece.
I have had to stop watching his show...and, it seems that there are a lot more shows on Fox that I have STOPPED watching, than I watch, anymore....sigh.
He went loopy when he and his first wife split up
The American taxpayer pays for lots of rubbish. Having the head buffoons show their true side, on T.V., in the Alito hearing is a plus. Skewering Fat Teddy, on his use of a satirical piece of just out of college humor, which he used as though it were hard, cold, straight faced fact, is PRICELESS! Ergo, you made no point and the point you claim to be making, is childish, irrelevant, silly, and proves that you have no understanding of how government works. Please take your tinfoil and go somewhere else.
I knew it immediately. That last line reminded me of "A Modest Proposal".
ROFLMAO!
You...he...Damon...can't...breathe...Geiko...caveman...
ROFLMAO!
lol, I believe he's qualified to go back and teach the course when he retires from Congress. Who better to teach it than someone that has lived it every day?
