Schwarzenegger's re - election chances up
The Argus ^ | Jan. 13, 2005 | Steve Geissinger

A recent poll shows the born-again "moderate" Republican governor has gained back some popularity, especially in the Bay Area, and is now in a dead heat with Democratic competitors.

"Our survey demonstrates that Schwarzenegger's retreat from the more conservative rhetoric and agenda he brandished during the latter part of 2005 has paid off among middle-of-the road voters," said Melinda Jackson, director of the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University.

The governor's job performance rating among voters in a Democrat-leaning state has climbed from 36 percent positive and 53 percent negative in September, to 40 percent positive and 51 percent negative this month.

The only thing new, Mr. grunt, is that I'm trying to time this so I'll be the 500th reply! If I am, I've promised to go in and watch something even stupider that trying to communicate with you and your comrades on this God forsaken thread which is so pumped full of pussey thinking by all you unprincipled pragmatistic big tent muddled moderates that have utterly abandoned any semblance of actual conservatism... Shoot! Now I've probably missed #500!!!

He was willing to be fiscally conservative

You mean he talks like he is fiscally conservative but then pushes bonds on false pretenses he doesn't live up to.

If Arnold doesn't get in you'll get a radical communist.

That's what Arnold is so what would be the difference?

Radical communists don't pretend to be something else.

That makes Arnold a garden variety communist, basically a closet fascist.

He isn't as bad as all that, he was good for business in California in being there as Governor.

You will get a radical Latino communist elected instead if you don't vote for Arnold and that IMO doesn't rate that high on the IQ scale.

I just learned from a friend, who was the party leader in her county, that she had received tickets to be on the dais at Arnold's inauguration. She went but came home the next day and resigned her position.

Don't whine. You folks voted for Ahhhhhnold. You are getting what you deserve. As Ed Koch said to former opponents who begged him to run agan after Dinkins' dismal peformance in the Crown Heights riots, "No, you had your chance. Now you have to be punished." Too bad a lot of decent McClintock voters have to suffer too.

I will never vote for Arnold. I can not vote for a socialist.

Death Penalty -Pro
Abortion -Anti
Union -Anti
License for Illegals -Anti
Davis Car Tax -Rescinded

Remember the Special Election Arnold brought? His positions aren't Socialist, though many of his critics are.
If the bitter SAS extremists bashing Arnold here weren't so petty those ballot measures might have passed.

He isn't as bad as all that,

He has been every bit of it.

...he was good for business in California in being there as Governor.

I wouldn't go that far. He has deprived the State of billions in contracts and revenue as political payoffs.

You will get a radical Latino communist elected instead if you don't vote for Arnold and that IMO doesn't rate that high on the IQ scale.

Oh goody, the Bustamante scare again. It doesn't help your case that McClintock would have beaten him.

Arnold was not the problem, a lack of conservative turn out in the special election was the problem.

Arnold did his job, he gave us an opportunity for a change and we didn't do anything about it with any significant numbers.

Put the blame where it belongs, with all the conservatives that didn't vote and the few who probably are social liberals and voted with the Democrats and unions.

The people denied themselves change by allowing the unions to continue to be a parasite on the state taxpayer.

Arnold gave us all the opportunity for change and conservatives pissed it away.

No, I've studied the history of the communist movemint, something of which you are clearly unaware. Even at the beginning, it was financed and supported by wealthy European and American members of the investor class.

But as for documentation, I give you Orwell, where he details precisely this relationship in a little-known quote written in 1938 from Homage to Catalonia:

In reality, it was the Communists above all others who prevented revolution in Spain. Later, when the Right Wing forces were in full control, the Communists showed themselves willing to go a great deal further than the Liberals in hunting down revolutionary leaders.

[Snip]

Between the Communists and those who claim to stand to the Left of them there is a real difference. The Communists hold that Fascism can be beaten by alliance with sections of the capitalist class (the Popular Front); their opponents hold that this maneuver simply gives Fascism new breeding-grounds. The question has got to be settled; to make the wrong decision may be to land ourselves in for centuries of semi-slavery.
