EXCLUSIVE: Pakistani Military Sources Say Zawahiri May Be Dead

Jan. 13, 2006 — Today, according to Pakistani military sources, U.S. aircraft attacked a compound known to be frequented by high level al Qaeda operatives. Pakistani officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, may have been among them.
U.S. intelligence for the last few days indicated that Zawahiri might be in the location or about to arrive, although there is still no confirmation from U.S. officials that he was among the victims.

Generalisimo Francisco Franco?Franco lingered near death for weeks before dying. On slow news days, United States network television newscasters sometimes noted that Franco was still alive, or not yet dead. The imminent death of Franco was a headline story on the NBC news for a number of weeks prior to his death on November 20.

CNN now confirming that the CIA did target Zawahiri with the strike. That was confirmed when this thread first went up. They were watching this location for several days.

Do you really believe we have complete imbeciles running this show, that they would not make every effort to secure such a valuable strike zone? "Pakistani officials" and a location within Pakistan, together suggest Pakistani troops which are of highly varying quality. They are waiting until dawn to go get them, so who knows what they'd do. If night-time is a real concern, then that suggests that they can't secure the area during the night.
