Jan. 13, 2006 Today, according to Pakistani military sources, U.S. aircraft attacked a compound known to be frequented by high level al Qaeda operatives. Pakistani officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, may have been among them.
U.S. intelligence for the last few days indicated that Zawahiri might be in the location or about to arrive, although there is still no confirmation from U.S. officials that he was among the victims.

Can I get a thoughtful analysis of where Debka has ever been frightfully wrong? You could get dozens of them, but my favorite Debka article was about the Iraqi invasion of Jordan to get to the West Bank to take on Israel in 2002. It's been posted here several times just to amuse people.

according to Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RQ-1_Predator
The Predator can carry two Hellfire missiles. I actually thought it was more, but two is good, as long as you pick your shots.
Along with many others, I'm hoping we got this guy. Of course, I don't trust the LSM - we all know they wouldn't be above giving thier buddy Zawahiri some cover to slink under a different rock...

Prayers for his family.

CNN now confirming that the CIA did target Zawahiri with the strike. Still no confirmation that they got him, will be some time before Pakistani government can verify.

I want to celebrate...but I want proof...I am a AF Reserve medic and I have just come back from Germany, bring the Wounded Warriors, home on the Aeromedical Evacuation System. I was not a flier, but I am on the ground and we unload the Wounded Warriors. I have seen first hand the damage that has been caused. So this is extra special to me to have this be true........

CBS News online finally has a story up. They could not wait to turn on the tears for the terrorists angle of the story.
Air Strike May Have Targeted Zawahiri
CBS/AP) There was an air strike today on a Pakistani village near the Afghan border and word tonight is it may have targeted Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri, CBS News reports.
Villagers in the remote area say 17 people were killed by bombs or missiles, but it is not clear if Zawahiri or other al Qaeda operatives were there.
Zawahiri is believed to have used the area as a hideout. He was last seen just last week, denouncing the U.S. in a videotape carried on an Islamic Web site.
In Pakistan, weeping villagers dug through the rubble of destroyed homes.
