He was a crazed monster and she was his pint-sized prey.
Whatever 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown did, it was inevitably wrong in the eyes of her brutish, 27-year-old stepfather.
There were six kids in their cramped Bed-Stuy apartment, and she was the one Cesar Rodriguez always targeted.
He told cops Nixzmary was wild and disobedient and he responded with violence, sources said. It happened all the time.
She was "the devil" and it was his job to discipline her — that's how he put it.
"There were arguments, lots of arguments. One was over her taking $100; one was over her taking yogurt," said a detective familiar with the case.
"It appears that this girl was the brunt of everything that goes wrong in his house," he said.
Rodriguez would allegedly beat her, throw her around in a back bedroom, bind her arms and legs to a small chair with flesh-biting white nylon rope. And then he'd allegedly tie the chair to a radiator so she couldn't move.
While the chair was a frequent torture implement for the child, it was apparently not involved in the attack that killed her.
Cops are also investigating whether Nixzmary was fed cat food and forced to use a litter box as a toilet. Feces found in the box are larger than a cat's but smaller than an adult's.
Rodriguez had disciplined his stepdaughter in the past, but he started doing it almost daily right before Christmas when he lost his job as a security guard, sources said.
On Wednesday, the day he punished her for the last time, he was furious because the starving youngster had taken a container of yogurt from the refrigerator, sources said. Her brothers and sister had been given some, but she hadn't.

First thought is death penalty.
Second thought is ALMOST death penalty, several times in succession.
It certainly isn't meant to diminish this tragedy, but, that's life on this planet.
I hope this man gets the same treatment as he meted out to this little child. Very sad.

Agreed. Kept in total darkness in a silent windowless cell, never to hear a human voice again, till one day, unannounced, the executioner walks in and puts a bullet in each of their heads. No press release of the execution, no Mike Farrells or Sean Penns, no media circus.
I think it's normal to want evil people to suffer. I wouldn't be shedding any tears to find out he had been killed in prison. That being said, we shouldn't have to rely on some mythical prisonyard justice to take care of him. In a more just scenario, like you said, he should be in solitary until his final punishment--swift and severe but because that often doesn't happen people fantasize about the first scenario.
Lord, she's thin. My 2-year-old weighs almost as much.

Disgusting. Yeah, this dude wouldn't last long in the General Population, and that's a fact.
It is extremely painful to read about the torture and pain this poor little girl might have gone through. I cannot imagine some one beating a little child and killing them eventually. Tears and prayers for this little girl.

Has anyone checked the immigration status of these bottom-feeders? Their sub-human behavior has certainly cost NY plenty, not that all the "investigations" by bureaucrats dis one iota to save this child or make her life bearable.
The bastard had to SLEEP sometime.
First offense, knock-down, drag out fight, probably with cops involved.
Second offense, he would wake up (NYC--Can't shoot) pinned to the mattress with a 10-12" butcher knife between his ribs.
Mommies ALWAYS have an alternative.
If this is how Mexicans discipline kids we really need to build that fence.

That child is being waked right around the corner from me. The crowd is steady. Many people are saying already in the street that this guy will have a warm welmome in jail---maybe not right away, but eventually.
