He was a crazed monster and she was his pint-sized prey.
Whatever 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown did, it was inevitably wrong in the eyes of her brutish, 27-year-old stepfather.
There were six kids in their cramped Bed-Stuy apartment, and she was the one Cesar Rodriguez always targeted.
He told cops Nixzmary was wild and disobedient and he responded with violence, sources said. It happened all the time.
She was "the devil" and it was his job to discipline her — that's how he put it.
"There were arguments, lots of arguments. One was over her taking $100; one was over her taking yogurt," said a detective familiar with the case.
"It appears that this girl was the brunt of everything that goes wrong in his house," he said.
Rodriguez would allegedly beat her, throw her around in a back bedroom, bind her arms and legs to a small chair with flesh-biting white nylon rope. And then he'd allegedly tie the chair to a radiator so she couldn't move.
While the chair was a frequent torture implement for the child, it was apparently not involved in the attack that killed her.
Cops are also investigating whether Nixzmary was fed cat food and forced to use a litter box as a toilet. Feces found in the box are larger than a cat's but smaller than an adult's.
Rodriguez had disciplined his stepdaughter in the past, but he started doing it almost daily right before Christmas when he lost his job as a security guard, sources said.
On Wednesday, the day he punished her for the last time, he was furious because the starving youngster had taken a container of yogurt from the refrigerator, sources said. Her brothers and sister had been given some, but she hadn't.

OH really? I bet the GOOD folks on FR would come up with something in seconds flat. And you'd have plenty of people lining up to administer the torture too. In my experience, folks on this forum don't mind degrading themselves or others one bit. And they'll go to great lengths to do it.
Have to agree with you there, there is a similar case here in Kansas City. Believe her name is 'missing doe' and it came out that it was her step father ... and folks asked the same question how in the world could a mom not know?
At least you admit that such "penalties" are, in fact degraded and degrading. That some folks might actually be willing to carry them out (who on here wants to bugger the perp?) is simply an indictment of them ... and evidence that sin is a real part of human nature. That doesn't mean we should celebrate it, encourage it, or make it a matter of public policy.
It's possible to rid ourselves of the evil, violent criminals amongst us without rewarding them or becoming like them.
The ULTIMATE punishment, the one delivered by God, will be punishment enough. Eternity in Hell is something no one should elect to risk.

Don't count on it. As expected, the local news programs are already trotting out the woman's family to tell us how she was in fear for her life from her husband and couldn't help the girl.
Sorry, honey, but a normal mother, no matter how scared she was, would run through fire to protect her child.
A death sentence would be merciful compared to life without parole with the general population.
I see no reason why he should receive any mercy.

It's being reported that the mother, if you can call her that, admitted that she was responsible for giving the little girl two black eyes.Now she's trying to back out of it.
She will get away with it--they always do. I doubt the killer will get the punishment he deserves either--not on this earth anyway.
