I called Senator Cornyn's office to thank him for being such a model of what IMO a senator should be. I also asked if he would have his staff look into the possibility of bringing up ethics charges against Kennedy for his scurrilous attacks on a sitting judge appearing before the Senate. In my opinion he not only crossed the line of decent behavior for a human being but I believe he also violated some rules of the Senate as well. The young lady I talked to seemed very eager to do just that. Hope something comes of it. Wouldn't it be great if more people asked this of their senators?

I think the 17th is the Committee vote. The Republican members and these slobbering dolts have three days to make up their minds. Then I think it goes to the floor the following week.
So the delay to early Feb may only be symbolic, but I also thing that it may pertain to a test. To see how far they can drag it out until something the HBM can run with

Specter says the week from the 2nd to the 9th was the one week delay entitled to opposition, and Leahy and Specter reached agreement (at least Specter sees that they had) on that point.
Pretty much recapitulating what Ed Whelan said in his piece. He's got to be stting up a "but ..."

they are trying to push it back as far as they can to keep O'Conner on the court for those abortion cases.

Roberts filled the vacancy left by Rhenquist, hence why Roberts is CJ. Alito is going to fill the vacancy of the outgoing O'Connor who is leaving for personal family reasons.

Watch Leahy go into stall tactics.

No, Roberts was nominated when O'Connor announced her retirement. Aliso was nominated when Rhenquist passed away.
Do I have my timeline wrong?

That and one other case, I think, are the reasons the Rats are trying to delay.
