CINCINNATI -- Carson Palmer's knee injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap, his surgeon said Thursday.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback tore ligaments in his left knee when he was hit by Pittsburgh's Kimo von Oelhoffen on his first pass during the Steelers' 31-17 playoff victory Sunday.

Get a replay. The guy was not tackled into Palmer.

Well, the entire Bengals organization disagrees with you. Sorry.

Palmer disagrees with you, and he was there.

All you sports fans out there go see Glory Road tomorrow.

I came across an interesting article about Glory Road last night. Seems there may be some artistic license on the part of Jerry and co. on this one.

Just food for thought.

Give me a break

He's paid to GET TO THE QB!! Don't you understand that?

You are taught to play until the whistle. he had no idea where the ball was.

Sure the hit was late, but that's what penalties are for.

But it wasn't anywhere near dirty.

Carson is just a nice guy and they don't want to see the other guy get retaliation attacks.

It was a stupid move, I don't think the guy was looking to cripple Carson on purpose either.

It was stupid and the ball was off for a while.
Was it an intentional crippling? I don't think so.

This just was not USC's week. (For those not in the know - Carson was the USC Heisman QB for 2002 season - before Leinart).

Hope he is OK - but those are some very hard words concerning prognosis.

it wasn't stupid.

It was his job.

Let me put it this way, it was no more stupid than when any other player hits the QB late after the ball has left.

I'm sure he's sorry Palmer was hurt so bad. But, it was a dirty play.

What about the cheap shots and trash talk in the Steeler secondary? They're animals.

Actually, I kinda' like Kitna. But, this game made me sick.

Palmer had just released the ball prior to the hit and the lineman pushed/guided Kimo into him. If anything, it's more of a turf injury because Carsons foot appeared to get caught in the carpet as he got hit causing his knee to twist.

...the gentleman Palmer was about it.

Palmer is all class. And tough too. I would have been crying like a wet baby.

ALL the QBs should be required to where some sort of metal brace that prevents these tackle injuries IMO.

Knees don't bend sideways.
Tackling the knee against the way the joint bends is going to cause damage.

The player who made the tackle is not known as a thug.

The lineman pushed the guy away to the side of Palmer and he had to make a specific move for the knee. He did not fall in the direction he tackled.
Kimo was pinned and had only the upper body to tackle with and decided to reach up for the SIDE of the Palmer knee and to draw it sideways to himself.

Biomechanics doesn't work that way and the knee had to go.

His salary is insured by an insurance premium, so his injury did not lead to his poverty.

I meant on the field. He didn't show much emotion. I bet he will be back next year.

30 years from now, all these guys will be limping. When I was a kid, I couldn't understand why my Dad didn't even like me watching football. Now, I'm an old crab too.

Remember great rookie Bengal's quarterback Greg Foster I believe was his name. His career ended in one season due to a shoulder injury.
