Congratulations, Democrats. You managed to make Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito's wife cry.
If there was a stupider move in the Democratic playbook, it's hard to imagine, although there sure were plenty of dumb moves as Dems vented their angst ...........Sen. Ted Kennedy exploded in a little temper tantrum that showed the acute Dem frustration over the calm, reassuring, everyman image projected by Alito. ........Dems trying the hardest to trip up Alito seemed more interested in the sound of their own voices bloviating than in getting real answers.
On the first round of Q&A, Sen. Chuck Schumer spoke 3,471 words in questioning Alito Laito's 1,166 to reply.......Kennedy spoke 3,282 words---Alito' reply 1,557. And Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) hit the record with 3,739 words, while giving Alito time for just 1,021.....

He/she (the wordcounter) is probably not a "Poor SOB". I feel certain the actual job title is "Grossly Underpaid Lacky".

But you have to say this...there are alot of OLD senators from the 1970s and 1980s...who would have torn Kennedy up completely. I can sit here now and put Jesse Helms into this situation...and he would have carved Kennedy up..."the decency...the decency"....I can just hear his words in my mind and know that alot of the old timers...including old democrats from the past era...would never have accepted such behavior in a senate chamber.
We have a breed of senator today...probably 20-30 of them, and I will even toss in McCain...that have no character and no leadership value. Jesse Helms would have educated them on politeness and the values of being a gentleman. We are missing something serious in today's Washington.

What poor SOB had to to the word count on Biden? I don't know. Seems like simple multiplication to me.
"blah" x 3,739 = Biden's questions

Actually, it's two things. The modern Democratic Party was defined in the early 70's when they went pro-abortion and isolationist/pacifist on Vietnam and the Cold War. They got the courts to dictate abortion policy, but haven't figured out a way for the courts to dictate national security policy (but they're trying, they're working on it).

Laz: "Senator, and I mean this most respectfully -- f*** you."
The idea of anyone having to see the Senator naked, let alone preform intimate acts with him, is disturbing and disgusting. I would not wish that on DiFi, let alone nice men like Laz or future Associate Justice Alito.

Congratulations, Democrats. You managed to make Supreme Court nominee Sam Alito's wife cry. Mrs. Alito's crying spell will sink the Dems chances of unseating Judge Alito's Supreme Court appointment. The Dems appear and are "Mean" and they made that poor woman cry...this is what the ordinary citizen will say and feel.
Kennedy, Schumer, Biden and Feinstein: keep up the good stupid job!

I went over to DU today too. The DUmmies think Mrs. Alito's tears were staged, that she put something in her eyes to simulate tears. It's all a Rovian plot, ya know, to make dems look bad by making a lady cry. These people are unbelievable, I always wonder if the person making statements like that isn't a Republican undercover and leading the DUmmies on.

There was a funny line of John Stewart's show last night, about Mrs. Alito's outfit on the day she cried - a very strange, upholstery-looking print on the fabric.
The line went: "Judge Alito's wife was also the victim of a tragic clothing accident earlier in the day, and as a result she was forced to wear her grandmother's couch to the senate hearing.."

Not funny.
Stewart could have been even funnier had he said, "Too bad Mrs Alito doesn't have the clothing taste of, say, Teresa Heinz Kerry."
