Judge Samuel A. Alitos wife Martha left the confirmation hearing room in tears this evening, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) apologized to the Judges family for the behavior of his fellow committee members during the course of the last three days.
Sen. Graham said: Judge Alito, I am sorry that youve had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have attacked Judge Samuel A. Alito over his membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton and his involvement in the Vanguard case.
One senior Republican in the hearing room said of the situation: After three full days of attacks against her husbands character, Mrs. Alito had enough. Democrat behavior during this hearing has not only been wrong, its been embarrassing. Ted Kennedy is nothing but a bully.
Developing...
Never underestimate the power of the Hildabeast (including her stack of FBI files), the complicity of the MSM, or the ignorance of soccer moms in the voting booth.
My sources confided that she did indeed sit too close to Kennedy and he was spitting Jim Beam all over the place during one of his rants.
***Did Sen. Kennedy offer to drive her home?***
BEAUTIFUL! Maybe we should all send Fat Teddy snorkels as a reminder of his early days.
I was in the process of laughing my face off at tet68's description... but couldn't post my chuckles.. as the post was being removed. It was good comedy of the photo.
It would be nice if alito would make a comparison to the dems questions about womens rights to the right to life denied to Mary Jo. Or that maybe he would consider hearing a case brought against kennedy by her family. Wishful thinking.
Whoa there. Teddie has enough bad marks on his soul without attributing the sins of Ethel Kennedy's nephew, Michael Skakel, onto him. I mean, how many times must a man be condemned to hell?
Don't lump all soccer moms into one basket...there are a few of us who are pretty bright!
I wish someone would ask Kennedy a few questions like:
You say you support tax increases because the wealthy don't pay their fair share. But, you go to extreme lengths to avoid paying your fair share and have been doing this for decades. In fact, the Kennedy family has been able to transfer between $300 million and $500 million from generation to generation while only paying $134,000 in taxes. Please explain this to the American people.
Probably in tears because of those Democrat HYPOCRITES, sitting in judgement of her husband! These grandstanding, bloviating, smug, self-righteous windbags want us to believe that someone who opposes abortion is a "great threat" to this country but these same people didn't have a problem with that ACLU lawyer, Ruth Bader Ginsberg becoming a justice. Heck! Senator Biden even coached her on which questions to answer and not answer! It still makes me sick to think that someone who served with an organization that believes child pornography is "free speech" sits on the Supreme Court!
If they try to filibuster this nominee, I hope the Republicans have the guts to go NUCLEAR on these clowns!
I saw it, she left during Grahams apology to her husband, she was crying because she was touched, and left, very undramatic and quiet.
Even Graham started to tear up.
Of course the MSM will not report it this way.
I like yams. Did you mean yammerbag?
You are very funny !
My sympathies for the fine lady.
I'll do my best to paraphrase....I heard it on the radio.....
Kennedy made some motion and was a jerk about it....
Specter basically shot it down and said he would take it under advisement....gaveled it down and everything
Kennedy interupted, saying something like "I'll make it again and again and again" ...the implication being that he was going to disrupt the hearing. and that's when Specter basically went balistic.
Said something like You're not going to tell me how to run this hearing. I am the chairman and I told you I'd take it under advisement and I will but this hearing will proceed....and he gaveled the motion again....and moved on.
I didn't do it justice there....If you can't see it on cable, maybe you'll be able to hear it on talk radio....even tomorrow. It was a priceless exchange....
If they do, they'll blame it on Graham.
I agree and totally understand how Mrs. Alito must have felt, and anyone with an ounce of compassion would feel that way too. Guess that leaves out the DU'ers. ;)
