Day 3: Questioning Continues
This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

Durbin is a Catholic...he went to Assumption HS in E St Louis, which was an all-boy Catholic HS.....I dated a boy who went there, way back when....apparently all the priests had little impact on DICK...
Is there such a thing as a CINO?
We do hear about CEOs, Christmas and Easter Only (whom Pope Benedict XVI welcomes :-)
The 'Rats want Alito to be independent of the President who appointed him, but not independent of the MINORITY PARTY on the Committee who will vote against him.
They aren't even moonbats anymore -- the Moon does orbit Earth, after all. They have emigrated to another planet -- probably Uranus.
Good point.
My guess is that he wanted to run for the Senate, and he had to change his position in order to get the nod by the democrat senatorial committee.
It's all about money for the pro aborts.
He does seem very smart, but I suspect he gets to see the Republican's questions in advance. In addition, he has had several weeks to review the cases the Democrats are likely to mention (they are pretty predictable).
Oh my....Durbin has some splainin to do if he continues to attack Alito about his opinion written in 1985.
Specter up! Will he bring up Scottish law?
Richard Durbin serves as Master of Ceremonies at the Respect for Life Observance, sponsored by the Springfield Right to Life Committee at the Illinois state capitol -- January 17, 1982
Letter from congressional candidate Richard Durbin to voters, arguing ways in which his pro-life credentials exceeded those of his primary opponent, and pledging support for a constitutional amendment that would overturn Roe v. Wade (PDF document) -- March 14, 1982
Exactly.
A nominee better be lucky, And get approval from close-minded Chucky. His vehemence floors us -- He's a one-man Greek chorus -- Whose vision for America's yucky.
If not, then why bother with having a Supreme Court?
I think I remember Brownback and some other Senators..as well as some House members being really upset with Kelo...and promising to draft legislation to address it, when they get back this month...
However, now that the NYTimes has decided to print so much classified material that NOW the Senate and House will be in endless hearings and investigations, I wouldn't look for that to happen soon....sigh

He wanted an amendment to over turn Roe
Hey Senator Corbin .. Thank you for mention Durbin's pro-choice record!!
Let's tell him that he has to eat haggis first before he brings it up
Oh darn, can't do that
And we know that the only other crime in the books of Democrats (other than dissent) is hypocrisy. But if they were honest, they would see that they are the worst offenders.
Did you catch the one about how Durbin wanted to OVER TURN ROE ????
Oh my my ...
Is Byrd's goal just to protect the south, or is it to recruit new KKK people? Striking from the record, a few comments he has made, I've always thought him to be an incredibly smart man always looking out for the helpless.
Lol! Oh, I'm under no illusion that the dems. are going to get theirs during these hearings. I just find it humorous that they continue to stumble so blindly as they try to score points. They entered the Alito Brain Maze with high hopes. But here they are, Day 2 upon them, still stuck on the "You are here" sign posted at the first turn. Biden says turn right. Leahy says turn left. Feinstein wants to go back. Schumer wants to tunnel under. And Kennedy needs to find a bathroom. All in all, I would say they are completely LOST. And going nowhere fast. A joy to watch.
Cool, Steeler highlights!
