Day 3: Questioning Continues
This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

Thanks for the Bloomberg News excerpt and very nice pic of Judge Alito and his wife in #3376.
Okay, I'll be checking in some time in the morning. I hate having to try to listen to the hearings from my office...work gets in the way :)
Since the hearing starts so early...I better go to bed..
see ya'll on the thread tomorrow..good night.
LOL...don't you just hate the "intrusion" of work!!
I will post what I find out...and I will freepmail you, so you won't have to get in trouble at work by scanning the whole thread...
Have a good night...see ya manana!!
Brit called Mrs. Alitos tears and leaving the hearing "theatrics" then changed it to "dramatics"
I despise all media.
If you're talking about Brit Hume, I find it hard to believe (although I'm not questioning your integrity).
I would find it easier to believe that he was quoting that as something someone else said.
Wait! Count me in! It's a lovely idea. :-)
You are most welcome, nutmeg.
Nope...it's the way he started his panel segment, tonight. I think he immediately realized "theatrics" was quite harsh, so he changed it to "dramatics". If I were forced to pic a favorite media critter, it would be Brit. I was disappointed.
Awesome. To me at least. The move has profound implications for future presidents.
I didn't see it, but he generally only reports what others say in the process of reporting the news.
That would disappoint me also.
And Drudge has on his sight that Kennedy was a member of an all male social club at Harvard... "the Owl". The Washington Times is going to have an article about it tomorrow.
Yes, as Rove said he would.
I don't agree with those that trash him. Yes, he was unfortunate in the Bork hearings. That was a long time ago.
Bork had his faults.
Specter was also one of the Clarence Thomas defenders.
Excellent!
The New Media at work, is having an impact on the Old Media...
He exhibited the same likability when he defended Thomas.
They may well be happy about it, but I think their intimidation tactic is not effective against people of the caliber that deserves a seat on the Supreme Court. As a party, they are becoming the bully who barks and threatens, then steps aside to let you pass. A couple of those, and regular folks lose their fear of the bully. As more and more people pass, the bully starts to look the fool.
SO...it could be Mission Accomplished as far as Soros and gang are concerned.
Only if the public and the legal theories that it supports move too far away from traditional social values in the areas of family, religion, and sanctity of life - and that can happen somewhat independently of seating good people on the Court.
Alito is just damn impressive.....really rather incredible!
This is a very fair article, I was pleasantly surprised.
