Last week, Florida's supreme court ruled that public money can't be spent on private schools because the state constitution commands the funding of only "uniform . . . high-quality" schools. How absurd. As if government schools are uniformly high quality. Or even mostly decent.
Apparently competition, which made even the Postal Service improve, is unconstitutional when it comes to public education in Florida.

I'm so sorry.
I understand that it must be very hard but please try to remember that you choose your friends, not your family.
Even if they are total losers that doesn't mean that you have to be. You sound like you are going to college and can show them that you can make it on your own!!!
My sister is like your mom. Her daughter was emotionally abused for years but never knew it. My sister even told her that she wanted to commit suicide so badly that she might any day, run her car into a wall. Can you imagine coming home from school at 11 and not knowing whether your mother was going to suicide on her way home? This poor girl always thought it was her fault!
At sixteen she realized that none of it was her fault. She struggled through high school (hated it too) then went on to Police Academy. She told me that she was going to be something whether her mother liked it or not. Today she is on Pregnancy leave from the Force, married and owns a house.
You work at it and show them that you can do it. You can be wonderful!!!
Sounds like you went through some difficult times. I hated school, too, when I was young. I always find it amusing when people comment that children need school for "socialization". I think back to the Lord of the Flies atmosphere of the schools I attended and figure only the bullies, teasers, and snobs who enjoyed popularity in school must be the ones who think school is good for socialization... lol. I know too many parents who had to begin homeschooling because their child was being beat-up or attacked in school. :-0
That's what I keep telling myself! lol!
Is someone forcing you to read stories about teachers having sex with students?
Hang in there Niuhuru! You can achieve anything you set your mind to. We are all pulling for you here. (And praying for you too.)
We do. I'm generally anti-school (not anti-education), especially god-free schools.
I know many cannot swing it, but to those able to make the sacrifice, homeschooling or private schools are the way to go (in that order).
The government schools, with few exceptions, suck. (Government runs schools like it runs other enterprises: abysmally.)
Your real Father is in heaven. Pray to Him for help. It worked for me. 8-)
I want to puke. God save the children!
He was as dumb as a rock and did nothing but appease the parents so the budget wouldn't be voted down.
He got the job because he was a male. The other candidate was a woman who had been in med school before marrying.
When I suggested to the principal that she be allowed to develop the science curriculum he looked at me as tho I had lost my mind.
No ma'am, YOU have been very very good to your children.
Thanks guys. It's not that bad, but there are times when I honestly wonder what the heck my dad was thinking. My parentals are just overworried about me, quite wrongly. They've overanalyzed because of my mother's mental issues,go figure. I think homeschooling is best since public schools are far too worried about sports, drama, art, etc. rather than actual learning.

People need to stop marrying the insane.
Our daughter endured harrassment in the 6th grade, from one of the boys in her class, but the school didn't tell us how pervasive it was until the last few weeks of school. Our daughter had mentioned that this boy bothered her from time to time, but I thought he was just flirting, like some stupid teenaged boys do. We were appalled when we realized how bad it had become, and that the school hadn't informed us. We still didn't think about homeschooling, because the school assured me that the boy would not be in her class the following year. He wasn't, but she wasn't any happier that year. About two thirds of the way through that year, I found out that some friends had taken their kids out to homeschool them, so we asked her if she'd like to homeschool. She jumped at the chance, so we started in the 8th grade, and she is now a Senior in high school, doing some of her work at the Community College. I never 'taught' her anything, I simply provided the materials for her to teach herself. She has always been different from most of the other kids her age, and frankly I'm glad! She's a much more interesting person than most of her peers.
Now YOU are in control, so do what you need to do to create the life YOU want for yourself.
Shows what I know about football, I guess :-).
>>People need to stop marrying the insane<<
Amen!
Although I think that my sister's insanity was drug induced.
>>Our daughter attends an extra-curricular Anime Club<<
Does she know that TCM is showing the Studio Ghibli movies all month?
Apparently she does know that!
Our daughter and I went to Tokyo last summer to visit with friends, a homeschooled family that is in Japan for a couple of years with her husband's job. The girls went to the Ghibli Museum, and had a great time!
Big handsome guy with very little intellect between the ears.
