Do you see Alito's wife behind his shoulder? She's trying not to laugh at Lahey.

Was Leahy getting a little choked up there?
To: OXENinFLA
Leahy is such a brat. He keeps posing the same out-of-context, what if, question to Alito. The man simply can't stand knowing that someone else has a brain and can figure out the dumb little traps he sets. Alito triumphs, and keeps referring him to the constitution for the answer.

Right and since it's after the fact, information isn't usable.
I can't say it but it rhymes with glass bowl

He kinda is. No matter how many different ways Leahy broaches this subject, Alito has answered the question the same. He would have to listen to the specifics of the case before making a judgement.
Leahy even went so far as to say- What if the President decided to go around the laws against murdering someone.... Is this okay?

It's very, very easy to see where this is going for the Democrats. Bush is being vilified, Bush is Hitler, Bush is evil, therefore any appointment by Bush must be lambasted and denied any position
This hearing just gives the rats another opportunity to bash Bush.....

Ohhhhhhhhh.... Here comes the 10yr old strip search case.
To: KCRW
The dims are oh so predictable and oh so lame.
Leahy now onto the "strip search" gambit.
To: Chuck54
Spying on Quakers is the issue now.The only Quaker that may be spied on is Richard Milhous Nixon.

Alito just said that this could be brought up in the S.C. that he would have to hear all info before he could answer. He has not really said how he would decide but he would need to hear to decide. Exactly - and that he says it can be brought up to the Court is enough.
Leahy's questions are fair game too, IMO. Flame suit on.

It sure was! Leahy asked it a few minutes ago, albeit tongue in cheek. Thank you .. I thought he said it

I love the look on Mrs. Alito's face. She is totally convinced that Leahy is an idiot, and her husband is smarter than Leahy. She would be right, if that is what she is thinking. Leahy keeps trying to back Alito into a corner and Alito is too smart for that.
