ALITO CONFIRMATION HEARINGS
Questioning Begins Today
Each of the eighteen senators on the Judiciary Cmte. will have 30 minutes to question Supreme Court nominee Samual Alito today during round one. Sen. Arlen Specter, as chairman, will begin, then they will alternate by party in order of individual seniority. Round two starts on Wednesday.
And Arlen has said that if some senators want a third rounf, they'll have it tomorrow night..During the first day of the Roberts hearing..all the dems were saying they wanted multiple rounds..but the next day, they all gave up..

I'm having a flash of insight. Sessions asks Alito about not reaching a decision preematurely, and Alito goes into detail about how a judge must not go into deliberation with an agenda, or a pre-conceived notion, or prejudice. How important it is to keep an open mind until he's heard all the facts. (this is a theme, a promise Alito has made about how he decides cases.)
No talking head will bother to point out how apt it would have been for Alito to compare a judges responsibility to the democratic senators on this panel WHO WILL VOTE AGAINST him no matter what he says!
Maybe they're more worried about being overtaken by MSNBC?
That's why the dembos can't win elections...they aborted their undesirables....poor little babies...
His chairmanship ensures his yes vote. I'm not complaining.
I would not want that for any of them.
What I would want is for them to answer -- since they are too stupid to recognize a fetus as a living being -- is how many women and girls die per year from safe, legal abortions?
What I would also like to hear from them is how many woman and girls suffer from untreated clinical depression BECAUSE rumpswabs like them try to pretend that it isn't more complex?

Seriously, that guy is awesome.
The only thing that could make this better is if he asked him-in that ruminative Southern drawl-a question along these lines:
Judge Alito, how does it feel to be badgered by vile, manslaughtering scumbags like Edward Kennedy, self-important, egotistical blowhards like Joe Biden, and certifiable idiots like Herb Kohl and Senator Feinstein?

A party line vote actually hurts the Dems..it shows all their chatter about "being openminded" is pure crapola..

From what I have seen, he is on a par with Roberts, as far as playing the talk game with Senators.
Conservatives should be glad he knows how to keep his cool, so he can get on with his job for say 20-30 years.
