Winston Churchill was once accused of undermining the traditions of the Royal Navy.

His response: "And what are those traditions? Rum, buggery, and the lash. Good day, gentlemen."

This guy sounds like he had . . . ahem . . . issues.

Oh, but they are. Male and female. My husband hates to work with female sailors. He says they don't pull their weight. One example. They were loading supplies and this female complained about the boxes being to heavy. He made her open the boxes, take out the contents, move them then move the boxes. I told him that was a waste of time. He said he was not letting her get out of any of the work the other sailors were doing.

Morning K P,
I think they should have pulled out royal klintoom issued "stress cards" to cease that alleged berating that was administered.

klintoon drastically hurt our military forces with his commies-pc-ssmf's-lenin leaning appointees/generals

karpinski was klintoon approved general and a total F'up.

Have you ever noticed that anything that is tainted, corrupt, and criminally liable always traces back to the klintoons.

Seems there would have been more complaints, if this were his style of leadership.

Maybe the real truth will be told in this case, possibly an incompetnet jr& officer and petty officer?

May the chips for truth and justice fall where they may.

Good Mornning TWTX,
Your former instructor???? is a disgrace to karate and other good instructors.

Egotistical and undisciplined seem to be just a few of his shortcomings.

I am sorry you had to be confronted with a sad excuse for a supposed instructor.

I taught for a number of years and treated my students as I would want to be treated.

I believe your first instructor was taught only the physical aspects of karate. He failed to learn and teach these necessary principles&values

1. Discipline
2. Friendship
3. Obligation
4. Respect
5. Pride
6. Honor
7. Loyalty
8. Truth
9. Love
10. Unity
11. Tradition
12. Character
13. Integrity
14. A Pure Heart

There are still many good instructors around. Please be prudent in selecting another Sensei for your endeavors in karate or another martial art.

Some instructor(s)may think they are invincible, but a bullet will bring you down in a New York second.

"To The Master, The Negative As Well As The Positive"

Humbly Your's

The first of five charges, which all date back to between February 1998 and July 1999, involves Lieutenant Ryan Ramsey, who claims the constant "tirades" made him physically sick when he had to begin his shift and led to his becoming withdrawn and losing weight.

"You fag!"

Something about this doesn't add up.

Seven years after the fact?

Why so long for the charges to be pressed?

Well, don't leave us hanging. So what is the "right" way?

Let's see if I remember some military protocol right for one thing most CO's did not scream at fellow officers in front of the crew. And I do not recall being yelled at over any matter for 20 minutes. Another point this is a nuclear submarine. You want a disciplined crew but you don't want a nervous crew. Nervous crews make mistakes. For example a mistake on a sub is to be running silent under no noise conditions and have someone drop a wrench. PING your ship is compromised.

I worked under an officer or two that were quite abrupt but they were not personal about it. An order may be given in an abrupt way but you followed it.

From the sound of this the Captain was going Stir Crazy. It happens a lot of long deployments on surface ships and usually a persons gets over it in a day or two. For example on a 6 month deployment on a surface ship sometime during it a crewmwmber is likely to become easily agitated. A good Chief and a good officer knows to stay off their back at that point as does their fellow shipmates.

I pointed this out before the LT served under the Captains pleasure. IF the Captain had serious issue with his Junior Officer then next time surfaced he should have relieved him of duty and gave him a transfer. But he didn't. It sounds like the Captain did not want anyone spilling the beans about his mental state at sea. Add that to the testimony of a senior enlisted a Chief Petty Officer and the Captain needed to go.

Heck I got in a battle of wills with a Navy LT. Commander and a Marine Captain one night who tried to give me a direct and unlawful order which I promptly and respectfully declined to carry out. My solution was to invite the Commander to have us go talk to the Captain for his opinion on the matter. That ended the problem.

BTW my rating Machinist Mate is known for being one of the most difficult ones in the way of working conditions. Our way of dealing with problems sailor was a good rope across a pipe and a can of graphite grease. Hang up sailor by feet and apply grease. Repeat procedure as often as necessary till he got squared away.

I never knew a chewing out to last over a minute or so. BTW I served over 25 years ago.

I know, I left plenty of them in the woods.

"Follow me, Men!"

"Men?"

.............crickets............

The first phrase I learned as a new 2LT was "Which way do you think we should go, sarge?

Never got lost once.

Sounds like this Tarrant fellow is in over his head. He must be scared (bleep)less with the responsibility of his command and really needs to be relieved of his post.

Actually, any attack on my then-future husband I considered an attack on myself (and still do). When I realized that my teacher's behavior towards my husband had changed because of Tony's connection to me, I lost all respect for the teacher.

He was placed in a position of authority; he abused that authority for his own selfish purposes. That made the teacher less of a man in my eyes, and unworthy to teach my husband or myself.

Dear NSNR:

I recognize that there are bad apples in every bunch, and still have tremendous respect for the Martial Arts. The last several years, I wanted to go back and start again, but several years of complicated pregnancies limited all my physical activity (had trouble keeping my babies inside me).

I found a wonderful Tae Kwon Do master for my son, but he was little too young and unfocused to stay with it. We're going to give him some time to mature and try again. They offer family classes, too, in a great environment, so when the medical bills from our latest blessing (a boy, born in November) are behind us, I can consider taking it with my son and daughter. I want her to learn, too.

I'm glad your students had you!

Good Morning WTTX,
Thank you for the kind words and it is never too, late to learn.

Training together as a family is a very good idea and you all will benefit.

Normally students are the by-products of their instructor. You can tell by their attitude, character and self discipline, if they have truly learned the "Doh." "The True Way" of karate or martial arts.

I just wish your family and you the best in life always. Take care and when you are able to train again remember this, "Every Journey Begins With The First Step."

Respectfully Your's
NSNR-Ret.Shihan Dai,UMMA
