Meet the latest children's author, Sen. Ted Kennedy, and his Portuguese Water Dog, Splash, his co-protagonist in "My Senator and Me: A Dogs-Eye View of Washington, D.C."
Scholastic Inc. will release the book in May.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to create a book for young readers and their families that will deepen their understanding of how our American government works," Kennedy said in a statement Monday issued by Scholastic.

It about a water dog. Seems to have an autobiographical slant. Real water dogs, however, have been known to save lives.

Splash? Senator Kennedy should know a little something about that sound. I think it makes him run from the scene of an accident, leaving a woman to drown while waiting until the next day to call the police.

"Splash"? His dog's name is SPLASH?????????
The mind boggles...

Is it a pop-up book? Here's Uncle Teddy drinking a bottle of Vodka "Can you pull the tab to see Uncle Teddy guzzle Vodka?" Here's Uncle Teddy driving his car off a bridge "Can you pull the tab to make Uncle Teddy swim away from the car without his female passanger?"

It's his second work for children. The first was his fantasy on Robert Bork.

I thought the name of the book was going to be "A Bridge to Nowhere". Or, "Why Cars Don't Float".

So, where there be a section on shagging interns and taking campaign money from the ChiComs? Will there be a section on drowning women and accosting waitresses in DC restaurants? After all, it is supposed to be a Dem Party leader's account of government inaction.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to create a book for young readers and their families that will deepen their understanding of how our American government works," Kennedy said in a statement Monday issued by Scholastic. Has anyone educated the young about how Teddy was allowed a separate form of justice because he was from a rich, influential political family and allowed to commit, at the very least manslaughter, in the death of Mary Jo? Who will write the children's book of Chappaquiddick?

For some reason I recall from my youth a jingle from the YMCA, it goes as follows, "If you like the water, you should really otter learn how to swim at the YMCA."
Ted "Otis" Kennedy writing children's books is hilarious, surely it's a dark novel and sales will tank much like the innocent Mary Jo Kopechne.
