Potential GOP challenger criticizes Clinton on spying complaints

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ A potential Republican challenger took Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to task Monday for complaining in a fundraising letter about the Bush administration's policy of monitoring some domestic communications without court approval.

``Senator Clinton has repeatedly said that the greatest responsibility she bears is the protection of American lives from terrorist attack,'' said former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer. ``But now, in a blatant political move, Senator Clinton is politicizing national security to raise campaign money.''

Clinton campaign spokeswoman Ann Lewis declined to comment on the Spencer complaint.

At issue is a late-December fundraising appeal in which the former first lady pledged to ``keep speaking out about my disagreements with this administration and their congressional allies'' and criticized ``a secret program that spies on Americans!''

``The values that made America in the 20th century not just the economic leader of the world, but the moral leader of the world are under attack today,'' Clinton wrote.

The Bush administration has come under fire from Democrats and some Republicans for its monitoring of domestic communications, in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, without obtaining warrants from a special court that deals with such issues. Bush has said the warrantless monitoring policy does not violate the law and is important to protecting the country from terrorists.

``It's sad when the senator who represents ground zero appeals to paranoia to raise money by accusing the president of spying on Americans,'' said Spencer.

``It's incredible that Senator Clinton would attack the National Security Agency program that protected New York,'' the Republican added.

Spencer, a Vietnam War veteran who is little known statewide, has become the front-runner for the GOP Senate nomination in the wake of Jeanine Pirro's December decision to end her struggling Senate campaign.. "

Without any question - this is why it should be so easy put bury her in any campaign. Will the Repub candidate have the guts to do it, and not worry about the stupid, leftist MSM ???

No doubt, there are dozens of ethical crimes committed by Hillary, I think he could be a little more aggressive than that. Unless he wants to lose, that is.

Fortunately, John Spencer may as well go for broke. Even the usually dependable New York Post is clearly in Hillary's pocket so he has no chance of getting any real support in the media no matter what he says.

Unfortunately, Spencer's challenges may not matter. The MSM will never demand any response from Hillary. She will never stoop to explaining or defending herself to voters.

"Clinton campaign spokeswoman Ann Lewis declined to comment on the Spencer complaint."

Yeah. Hitlery doesn't like to respond to non-rehersed questions and comments.

She'll get re-elected. In New York you run Satan against Jesus Christ or Moses in a State-wide election and Satan would win if he was the Democrat. Ditto New Jersey.

And before the election, you will here the insipid cry of a lot of these dumbo voters saying "I would like to know the views of both candidates".

Yeah. The Clintons are a great moral example to the world. Oval Office shenanigans, missing files, dead bodies....

That's right, Hill -- by you and your ilk.   But you know that, don't you.

There is a percentage of American population that are sooo in love with the Clintoons that they won't believe anything the Republicans say against her, and even if they listen will just say the Republicans are liars. IMO there are Clintoon groupies that actually slobber after these people BECAUSE of what he did in the Oval office - and these are the same people that HATE GWB with such fury that I am amazed GWB has not met his untimely . . . . . .

Not for nothing, but this sure makes her look "stupid" to New Yorkers who watched the Towers collapse before their eyes.

The people don't give a dam about some stinkin' warrant if we can catch a terrorist before something happens. The mere thought of a USA citizen collaborating with terrorists makes my blood boil. B*******!
