DeLay Will Quit Leadership Post in House
Breitbart ^ | Today | DAVID ESPO

By DAVID ESPO AP Special Correspondent

WASHINGTON

Embattled Rep. Tom DeLay decided Saturday to give up his post as House majority leader, clearing the way for new leadership elections among House Republicans eager to shed the taint of scandal, two officials said.

These officials said DeLay, R-Texas, was preparing a letter informing fellow House Republicans of his decision. These officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt the formal announcement.

DeLay is battling campaign finance charges in Texas and was forced to step aside temporarily as majority leader last fall after he was charged in his home state. He has consistently maintained his innocence and said he intended to resume his leadership post once cleared.

There is only one GOOD party in America: The Republican Party.

I heartily disagree, especially since we've seen what Republicans do once they seize the reins of power. Their legacy the last few years has been BAD for America and those who love liberty and constitutionally-limited government.

You are exactly right, j.

The Party is clearly not made up of perfect people, but when they become corrupted, they are removed.

In the RAT party, the corrupted are promoted and cheered on.

There is NO comparison between the two, and anyone who says that both parties are equally corrupt is either blind, or delusional.

I agree. I do hope that his case will be cleared up soon and the truth will come out! I do believe that he is telling the truth and that he did not do anything wrong. Sure hope I am right!

In the future, when you reference me in a post, please add my name to the post. Common courtesy that is well established here.

I was doing a little research tonight and look what I found...I forgot all about it..

By NILES LATHEM, STEVE DUNLEAVY, EDMUND NEWTON, and ANDY GELLER July 13, 2001 Bob's Note: You'll notice that in this article there is absolutely nowhere a mention that he is or ever has paid child support or even considered it. The girl's child is now about 6 years old and probably living near the poverty line while Gary Condit is off getting other girls pregnant-like Chandra Levy. But it's ok, he's a Democrap. Notice the outcry from DEMOCRAP Barbara Boxer? There is none. She got Bob Packwood, R-CA, thrown out of the U.S. House of Representatives because he clumsily tried to only kiss some of his aids. Barbara Boxer used this to get herself elected to the U.S. Senate as one of the Senators from California. Note also about Boxer: she was the highest overdrawn spender in the House Banking scandal during George Bush, Sr.'s presidency. She wrote over 400 checks that would have bounced except for the slush fund the Democraps secretly used to cover their excesses. If you had done that you'd be put in jail. But that was covered up by the left wing media too.

A number one priority should be to get DeLay re-elected.

Why? Are there some more pork spending bills sitting on his desk unsigned?

Again, you are believing an AP/MSM report like some did about the Sago mine disaster. If I'm wrong, I'll make an apology.

Ummm....I've seen no apology.

No, to keep the dims in Texas from taking down the man who changed the electoral geography in this state. After 1990, they gerrymandered the house map to guarantee their party more seats in the body than they were entitled to. More than anyone else, DeLay is responsbile for revising that map. Besides, you are disgusted by what has always been a feature of legsiatures, logrolling. Lincon made his career in Illinois politics though longrolling in the state house. He was, besides, a spoilsman par excellence.

Not as bad as when the democrats were in charge.

And at least when we see scandal and doubt, we act on it. How many democrat leaders have been removed?

I see us being able to use this as a plus in the next election. Our leaders should stand up and speak out. We should commit to cleaning our own house. The speaker should say "We don't care about the democrats. We aren't listening to them, we are listening to the american people, and we are cleaning our own house. The democrats might do well to stop finger-pointing and start looking to clean up their own act, not for their own election, but for the good of the country."

Read my post again.

There is no hint of desperation.

What is contained in my post is disgust, anger and the sentiment I am supporting unprincipled cowards whereas the Dems may have treasonous roaches but they are damn near ascertained not to back down even when they are making wretched fools of themselves.

I don't really care who is the next leader right now. I don't care if they are conservative. I don't care if they are effective. because I know if they are conservative and if they ARE effective they will be chased and run down out of office as Delay was because it has just been verified we'll see someone out if enough pressure is exerted.

I am not interested in putting time and effort into the defense of a new leader, even if the person proves to be conservative and effective which is no guarentee, with the certain knowledge if I do and pressure builds to a certain point all that time and effort will have been proved a wasted effort. The next majority Leader would join Delay's scalp, not by hand of the DNC/MSM in the end, but by our own.

This is not the tone of desperation. This is the tone of someone that is righteously furious with the Republican Party's character and has reached a point only duty to the President and troops keeps me about. But they sure have NOT earned the right to remain the majority given how they have governed overall, especially since Nov. '04. And I don't refer to how many conservative accomplishments we rack up, which haven't been many since that election, but their inability to exert the control we worked ourselves to exhaustion during the campaign to give them.

We took down the MSM! We took down dan rather! We took down the Times! The Republican Party gave the MSM back the power we stripped from them by caring more about their editorials and newscasts then they did election promises.

We won a majority of the American people to our positions, and renegade Republicans stabbed us in the back right out of the gate on Social Security, judges and it continued from there.

Now come election time we're supposed to work to suppress the MSM again, beat them again, gain the majority of the vote again and I'm truly questioning why. Given what they did after we won it for them last November, if history repeats, we give them 60 Senate seats and we still will get nothing except an expanded McCain coalition. I have no desire to give McCain more power. None.

As stated, I'm still here. I'm here because I won't let the Dems and RINO's destroy this President. That means retaining a certain number of seats in Republican hands. I'm here because I won't abandon the troops and the war. the RINO's and spineless in Congress are working to do so as well, but at a slower pace, and hopefully the President will outpace them and achieve victory before they manage to strip the accomplishment from our troops. And I still carry some hope we'll push through changes on the Supremes before too late. But if not for what I stated in this paragraph, I'd let the Republicans receive what they have earned. Stunning defeat.

Not quite alone. ;-)

Anyway, alone or not what occured here was wrong and no amount of immoral rationalizations will encourage me to applaud this move by the Republicans or not blast the responsible parties even if I was alone.

I'm not a Republican and this is the perfect example of why. As well, I refuse to consider myself anymore a part of the "conservative movement" if the new breed is represented by the likes of Jonah Goldberg, K-Lo, national Review and I'm going to start calling out more names as time goes by since people like them in nuMedia seem to feel no compunction about calling for an innocent man's resignation.

I'm a conservative, I'll fight for conservative positions, but I am not "a" part of "their" movement. It would demand I sell out to the worst of politics, sell my soul in desperation to retain power and cater to those unworthy of respect. I refuse to do so.

I understand the anger against the RINOS, and I have similar emotions as well but I try not to show it often on this public forum. At the end, the practical conclusion is for us to work on keeping our majority in the House and Senate. I think the war against the RINOS should be delayed till 2008, unless our party senior strategists can come up with a strategy to defeat them in this year primaries but still have a great chance for the new Republican candidates to keep the seats for the GOP. I do not know if this is possible, but I hope it can be done.

The problem is...having the RINOS that we have in the Senate most of the time, isn't much better than having dems...

Especially when they include Graham, McCain..who have decided that they, and the rest of the "gang of dwarfs"..are more important (UNELECTED) than the rest of the Senate...

THAT is a dangerous road they are traveling..and if all are kept until 2008, the DEMS might be in "proxy power"...

The problem is that Graham is not due for re-election until 2008 and I think McCaine is not due until 2010.
