Separation of Church and Judiciary Committee Room!
Wall Street Journal/Washington Wire | 01/06/05 | John Harwood

Posted on 01/06/2006 10:37:54 AM PST by cotton1706

Three conservative Christians barred by Capitol police from "consecrating" the hearing room say they'd secretly done it earlier.

"We did adequately apply oil to all the seats," Rev. Rob Schenck says.

No, I don't have a link. It was a small part of a blurb in today's Journal, page A4. The headline of the blurb was "Democrats Consider delay to lift odds against Alito"

"Yea. We secretly did it earlier, but we thought it would be fun to come back and get caught trying to do it again, thus risking our freedom and making a mockery of the sacred consecration process.
"

You forgot the part about getting lots of publicity, photos in the paper, and such. That way, they can go back home, put the photos on their web site and get more donations.

"Are you sure?"

I'm sure that i hope the police would stop outsiders from coming in an spreading a substance in a government building without permission.

I came really close to suggesting that they actually had NOT already done it, but figured they'd get better donations if they said they did.

But I'm not sure the story is even true in any sense, so I didn't want to presume any part was accurate.....

OMG, do you really want to tear that man's pants off when he stands up?

Seriously, though if they let oil get spread it could be something else next time.

It's in today's paper. Must be true. The media never lie, especially about Christians!/sarcasm

Oh, Schenk was there, along with a couple of others. Do a Google news search for judiciary committee room and you'll find the stories, complete with photos of the pastors in full garb.

Nice photos, too. Perfect for fund-raising.

The Washington Post has maybe the best story, listing all the groups that are trying to influence the committee, from both sides.

But, anointing the seats of the chairs in the hearing room? That's pretty bizarre, it seems to me, and potentially dangerous. There really are poisons that can be dissolved in DMSO and transferred from a leather seat to a person. Deadly stuff, potentially.

I'm sure these three folks aren't planning anything like that, but it's still a bit scary that such could happen.

"I'm not sure this is a religious issue - I would hope the police would stop anyone from coming in and putting a substance on all the places where congressmen are going to sit."

One exception: truth serum....

I think it is humorous in one sense, but is there no security? I mean after all the money spent on 9/11 funds they can't keep some folks out of the Capital building. Next you will see three terrorists doing things that we don't want them to do all because security is not doing their jobs. I don't think this has anything to do with religion either. Obviously from my many post I am pro Christian and think the separation is ridiculous and not what it was intended in the first place.

Ricin mixed with lanolin (hand cream) will penetrate cloth and skin, and kill in 6 seconds.
