Sharon was declared dead by physicians at Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital before 1 p.m. Israeli time [6 a.m. EST], Middle East Newsline reported. Authorities have already been notified of the death, and a government announcement was expected to be issued over the next hour.

If I had to guess I would suppose that Sharon is on life support and a decision about taking him off or not is underway, as JPost is reporting that his condition is being "reassessed."
I am so sad to see this lion of a man go. He gave everything he had to the Jewish people. I pray for more like him.

Drudge backtracks! And not for the first time. It's sad, but comical.
Francisco Franco is still dead.

If Middle East Newsline reported this, it is likely true...

World Tribune is just this side of Debka file when it comes to stories. Given the source I'm not ready to leap in with condolences.
I have read (an Israeli paper) and heard (KFI in L.A.) they considered declaring him dead before now but decided to keep going given his luminary status as prime minister.
It's just a matter of time.

I'll not believe this until the Israeli government makes an announcement. Having said that, it is very clear that his time as Prime Minister is passed; it is also likely he will not live much longer.Agreed.
I don't have the raw wires in front of me right now (I don't go on the clock until 3 this afternoon), but once burned, twice shy.

"...For goodness sakes, if he does, I hope he doesn't take Bubba with him...."
If President Bush goes to Isreal for Sharon's funeral, why would he take clinochio? George W. Bush IS the President, CnC, and all the other titles that come with the office. If clinochio wants to go, let him pony up for the air fare and SS detail that would accompany that POS. And have it come out of HIS OWN pocket. He's a private citizen NOW.
