The Reverend Pat Robertson says Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke could be God's punishment for giving up Israeli territory.
The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network told viewers of "The 700 Club" that Sharon was "dividing God's land," even though the Bible says doing so invites "God's enmity."
Robertson added, "I would say woe to any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course."
He noted that former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated.
Robertson said God's message is, "This land belongs to me. You'd better leave it alone."
That's right...you admit he is used by the left and media. Yet the right piles on him whenever the leftist media tells them too.
Robertson's words are rarely directly quoted by the media. Yet the right (including Freepers) believe what the left tells them.
BTW...Robertson talks a LOT about Christ and forgiveness. He does not ONLY speak of brimstone. You are typical in mischaracterizing him.
Of course he is used by the Left and the Media because he is such an easy target. The Reverend deserves what he gets from the Media...the Right has Robertson and his ilk to contend with as the Left has the ACLU and Michael Moore...You have to pick your teams and deal with the fallout but I do not have to like or support what Robertson says...
Pat is getting feeble...let's say, more feeble that usual. He should let his son take over his ministry and retire, bless his heart.
Like I said...this is the point. He does NOT often "deserve" what he gets from the media because his words are twisted. He is not quoted verbatim.
Yet the right rises to the bait and cooperates with the media to bash him.

Robertson Spokesperson Addresses Comments Made by Pat Robertson Regarding Ariel Sharon
CBN.com VIRGINIA BEACH, VA., January 5, 2006Pat Robertson expresses his deep sadness over Ariel Sharons life threatening stroke and concern for Israels future security.
On The 700 Club broadcast this morning Robertson said he has met with Sharon at significant times and considers him a friend. Robertson, an ordained minister and bible teacher, has been a life long supporter of Israel and has continually expressed grave concern over dividing the land of Israel. Robertson pointed to the book of Joel in the Old Testament to show a biblical perspective of Gods view of Israel and efforts made from people who try to divide Gods land:
In the book of Joel, the prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has enmity against those who divide My land. God considers this land to be His. When you read the Bible, He said this is my land. For any Prime Minister of Israel who decides he will carve it up and give it away, God said, No, this is Mine.
According to his spokesperson, Angell Watts, Robertson is simply reminding his viewers what the Bible has to say about efforts made to divide the land of Israel.
She also expressed Dr. Robertsons outrage at People for the American Way, who have a clear left-wing political agenda and who, on an ongoing basis, lift his comments out of context and widely circulate them in an attempt to discredit him.
I think it is pretty clear what Rev. Robertson meant. God is punishing Sharon for his politics in giving away land in Israel. I completely disagree with this interpretation of the Bible and I really dislike the fact that the Media claim that Robertson speaks for the Right when in fact he is a misguided individual, in my opinion. In this case I do not see anything that was taken out of context.
I do not agree with Robertson's interpretation either. I believe the specific passage from Joel which Robertson quotes were spoken for a political situation going on in Joel's day; furthermore, I agree with President Bush's policy.
That being said, again, Robertson's words were not quoted verbatim and were distorted for the worst possible effect. The left wing enjoys seeing the right jump on Robertson every time he does this.
