It's 2006 and the Sky is Falling..............NOT !

It’s 2006 and the Sky is Falling ……………………NOT !

The Media has been all-a-twitter over the following “breathtaking” news items:

1. The NSA (National Security Agency) actually keeps track of who tries to access its website, and, if its doesn’t like the looks of a “visitor”, it brazenly takes a closer look !

Egad ! , the Privacy People cry . They’re going to peer into all those dark and nasty websites we frequent !

Well, maybe so. If NSA thinks you might be a foreign agent, or a terrorist – foreign or domestic – out to hack into their system - chances are they ARE going to take a damn good look at you – and more power to them for showing some common sense !

2. The White House web keeps track of how many people visit its site.

Yep. And so does this website.

That’s right: you are being counted !

3. There is tension between the Administration, Congress, and the Courts !

Gee ! Didn’t anybody study American History or Social Studies, or Civics - or whatever in heck it is called now ?

The tension between these three bodies is what helps keep our democracy reasonably democratic – (and it “sells newspapers” as well.)

Should that tension vanish – as it has, from time to time – democracy itself may be in danger.

Oh, by the way: the people who say the sky is falling know perfectly well it is NOT.

They just hope you’ll be dumb enough to fall for their nonsense.

RELAX …AND HAVE A HAPPY , HEALTHY , and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR !!

Recently I have been looking for a car to purchase, I have gone to several web sights, Now I keep getting pop-ups from web sites selling cars. There is no privacy on the web and it isnt the government doing the spying.

Sounds like spyware to me- you might try a couple of good online scanners:

OMG!!!!! The secret is out! All websites on the net use "cookies" to bean-count when visitors hit their sites...OMG. Call the press, dial 9-1-1 and let's get Mike Farrell over to our side now! Ebay and Amazon "know" me...I'm fearing for my life.

LOL!

Great article. I've been on the NSA's web site. (Oh, NO!)

I don't know how much money our Gub'ment spends on web pages but they are among the coolest I've seen! NORAD's is good, too.

Thanks, FR for keeping track of my web surfing activities.

Happy New Year FR!

:-)

More than likely you are correct and it is spyware. My point is that it exists and even taking efforts to stop it they keep coming up with new ways to spy on computers and it isnt illegal and it isnt the government.

Expecting privacy on the internet or your cell phone is stupid it doesnt exist.
