Traverse any blog or website geared to Republicans and the Conservative Right here in the United States (such as Free Republic or http://www.freerepublic.com ), and a strange dichotomy becomes evident with regard to Iraq.
First, they talk about every practicing Muslim and everyone of Arab descent as if they were a member of Al Qaeda and an animal. A popular photo on Free Republic shows a Grim Reaper with a skull and proclaims "Islam - It's the Evil of our Time, let's NOT leave it for our children".

Invariably, any discussion of Islam on these websites involves description of Muhammad as a pervert and a pedophile. In almost the same sentence, these people have no problem saying that they support Bush going into Iraq to promote Democracy for the people there. Yes, such wonderful things they and their President want for Iraqis.
Then, in a later thread, which might describe insurgents blowing something up in Iraq, they again continue their diatribe that all Muslims and Arabs are animals and should be killed or 'nuked'.
Queer folk these conservatives. Oops, they are going to be upset I called them Queer given their ridiculous hatred of gays. Ah well, what can one do?
I get the feeling that most Republicans secretly feel this way about Muslims and Arabs. I know President Bush has publicly said that he is not warring against Islam or Arabs, but against Saddam Hussein and the Terrorists, but I have this feeling that he and Uncle Dick say things altogether different in private.
In any case, the Republican electorate is virulently anti-Islam and that is a shame. Most practitioners of Islam that I have had the pleasure to know are wonderful, law abiding and hard working people.
The Iraq war is continuing to evolve into another phase that was predicted by many; anarchy and civil war.
The Shiites, who vastly outnumber Iraq's other two ethnic groups, Sunnis and Kurds, are naturally going to win any fair democratic elections in the country. The Sunnis and Kurds are not going to like this for many reasons among them that both groups are generally less observant of Islamic laws and traditions than the Shiites and the Shiites seem to want to steer Iraq toward fundamentalist Islam.
George Bush may claim (now, since no WMD were found) that he went to war to bring Democracy to the people of Iraq, but the net effect of his actions will likely be a Muslim Theocracy. Women in particular are going to suffer when the country becomes "The Shiite Islamic Republic of Iraq". [Don't forget the Children! --WT]
Democratic elections aren't going to turn out to be a good thing here and the Sunnis and Kurds know it. That is why they are protesting these elections tooth and nail. All the protesting and new elections, if they are able to attain them, will not help Sunnis and Kurds overcome the massive Shiite majority in the country.
Where does this leave us? The Freepers (as they like to call themselves) over at Free Republic deserve credit for some of the wackiest and creepiest (nuke all the people in over several dozen countries? Hello? Any humans on that site?) hypocrisy in history.
And President Bush, who was re-elected by an army of evangelical Christians for being such a good Christian man is going to be most remembered for establishing a radical Islamic Republic in Iraq. All of which proves the old axiom, truth is stranger then fiction, particularly when dealing with Republicans.
Authors Bio: Steven Leser is a freelance journalist specializing in Politics, Science & Health, and Entertainment topics. He has held positions within the Democratic Party including District Chair and Public Relations Chair within county organizations. His coverage of the Ohio Presidential Recount in 2004 was distinguished by actual interviews with Carlo Loparo, spokesperson for the Ohio Secretary of State, along with Supervisors of Elections of several Ohio counties. Similar efforts on other topics to get first hand information from sources separate Mr. Leser from many of his contemporaries.
The ACTIONS of Islam are diametrically opposed to the WORDS of Islam.
The left is childish and naive enough to take people at their word.
Iraq must yet prove itself as well as the entire world of Islam.
No, no, no! HE KNOWS what is going to happen, and how you feel! </sarcasm>
Islam, The Alleged Religion of Peace® ( TARP )? Click this picture:
No, I am not exaggerating. Click the pic, go to "last," and read backwards.
If you are not informed about this stuff, you will be made sick. If you are informed, you will be made mad, all over again.
Yawn:
First, they talk about every practicing Muslim and everyone of Arab descent as if they were a member of Al Qaeda and an animal.
hysterical exaggeration #1

non sequitur
Oops, they are going to be upset I called them Queer given their ridiculous hatred of gays
Ridiculous? Hatred?
Most practitioners of Islam that I have had the pleasure to know are wonderful, law abiding and hard working people.
Well, then, they need to speak out against the fanatical extremists who are hijacking their religion. If they don't purge this cancer from their own religion, external forces will do it for them, and at a much higher cost.
The Iraq war is continuing to evolve into another phase that was predicted by many; anarchy and civil war.
Anarchy? Civil War? Is this moron referring to the recent peaceful and highly participatory democratic elections in Iraq, along with its new Constitution and permanent government?
Democratic elections aren't going to turn out to be a good thing here and the Sunnis and Kurds know it. That is why they are protesting these elections tooth and nail. All the protesting and new elections, if they are able to attain them, will not help Sunnis and Kurds overcome the massive Shiite majority in the country.
This arrogant, elitist point of view apparently presumes that a multi-ethnic population can't peacefully co-exist in a unified Iraq. Total horses--t, given the facts on the ground.
Ladies and gentleman, ignorance from leftist appeasers just doesn't get any more profound than this

This is a man with an agenda and not to be trusted. While a lot of FR comments about Islam are over the top, the hard fact is that the current practice of Islam by many in those areas is part of the problem and that Islam as a belief system praticiced by the extremists is not compatible the the values of modern Western Civilization.
They want "that old time religion", right back to the seventh century with barbaric punishments and opression of women and a host of other unacceptable rules. And they want it worldwide.
This op-ed.com web site is nothing more than a collection of conspiracy theories, "rigged voting machines" and Republicans are Nazis crap. They are so far out on the lunatic fringe, one of their articles complain that NPR is too pro republican.
I would wager more people have read the nutjob's article after it was posted on FR than did before. You've probably trippled traffic to the lunatic website as well.
It was included in one of the links above. One post with one reply, which was a bump. I guess in DU land that makes a picture "popular".
stop mocking liberals with conservative penis envies...
Then I am guessing you won't mind if I keep a copy?
;o)
The article's author committs the same type of grouping together of people in naming, attributing the faults of a few to the entire group, and then hating his convoluted construct, that he attacks in his criticism. The only difference is that he attacks others for attacking Islam, while he applies the same method he hates against conservatives.
Isn't this an established fact??
Good point. At the bottom the author wants to destroy free speech and the trust it promotes in the economy for its valid reports on products.
He wants to destroy FR and American "freeperonomics" in general
You are quite correct, we know how jealousy works, and the author really doesn't know how to express his deepest feelings. It's a shame, that's his profession.
The entire world of Islam could stop terrorism in a heartbeat. They talk nice, and contribute money to charities which funnel money to murder.
First time I've seen that graphic. Seems that in addition to the war on Bush, there may be a coordinated War on "Blogs" starting at the MSM.
I've never seen it either. In fact, the FR he describes is not something I recognize at all.
Of course, the author is a leftist, ergo he is a liar.
Spot on. After all, most everyone by now knows that the murderous animals that strap explosives to their bodies and randomly blow up innocent civilians are Irish Catholic altar boys and how dare they blame any Muslims.
