PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush, the First Lady, the dogs and cat, and their family are spending the New Year's holiday at their Texas ranch.
On this New Year's Eve, 2005, although mindful of those who will not continue the journey with us into 2006, it seemed to me we should celebrate happy times. That is the theme of this last Dose thread of 2005.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the first Inaugural Address of President George W. Bush, January 20, 2001.
Americans are generous and strong and decent, not because we believe in ourselves, but because we hold beliefs beyond ourselves. When this spirit of citizenship is missing, no government program can replace it. When this spirit is present, no wrong can stand against it.After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: ``We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?''
Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.
We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.
Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.
This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.

I am so sorry. A terrible thing to happen. 2005 seemed to have one tragedy or bad event after another. :( I am looking forward to 2006.
One aspect of 2006 I am looking forward to is I start back to graduate school in January. I am getting my master's in Elementary Education. My youngest starts kindergarten in the fall. :( So I guess we will leave the nest together.
Happy New Year Dolly and once again thank you Wolfstar for a wonderful dose.
Happy New Year Susie and Ricky and of course the cat
Our minister's wife died a few days before Christmas. Her funeral was on Christmas eve. It was so hard to watch the family suffer. She was a good woman. Sorry for your losses.
She locked me outside again last night ("accidentally") and then claimed to be surprised when she found me this morning, shivering and blue.
:( Poor jonny. Happy New Year. I will still be writing 2005 for the longest time on my checks and things. Jonny I am going back to school this year and had to take a class either on Monday night, Tuesday night or Thur. night.! Don't these schedule makers know those nights are the best one's for T.V. viewing???? Any way I decided to take the one on Thursday. Couldn't miss the AI thread!! Don't know what I will do when I have no choice but to take my class on a Tue.
What cuties!!! When they reach the teen years so many girls will be lining the streets. :)
And a Happy New Year to you, ohioW!
I, too, am thankful for the president we have and am praying that God will put in place another such president as W in 2008.
Thanks to all of you who put up the Dose each day ... it's the best daily thread on FR. :)
