PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush, the First Lady, the dogs and cat, and their family are spending the New Year's holiday at their Texas ranch.
On this New Year's Eve, 2005, although mindful of those who will not continue the journey with us into 2006, it seemed to me we should celebrate happy times. That is the theme of this last Dose thread of 2005.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the first Inaugural Address of President George W. Bush, January 20, 2001.
Americans are generous and strong and decent, not because we believe in ourselves, but because we hold beliefs beyond ourselves. When this spirit of citizenship is missing, no government program can replace it. When this spirit is present, no wrong can stand against it.After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: ``We know the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong. Do you not think an angel rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm?''
Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inauguration. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage and its simple dream of dignity.
We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty, and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.
Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.
This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.
I know. They just haven't grown up and if everything isn't wonderful, they look around for someone to blame--the job, the wife, the kids.
And, no, he will never find what he had, IMO.
Thank you.
Thank you, Fudd Fan.

Anymore photos of your darling grandsons?
So true; but so many people today don't seem to see that.
Everyone has rough places, but I'm grateful every day that I stayed with my husband; we enjoy each other so much now, more than ever.
My Wife has to work in the norning, she gets up at 5:00 AM, she is a Medical Technician for a large hospital, they don't get days off. She has been asleep since around 9:30 PM even before the boys :-)
I'll post the other two I took
Happy New Year, rintense!!!
I'm really sorry, rintense, but for some reason I laughed. Just the thought of you rushing downstairs for Jeff.
Sorry to hear that though I am certain you have already wished each other a happy new year and will again tomorrow.
Is your new year in about 5 mins?
Happy New Year, Sara. I wish you and your family the very best 2006 possible.
Look forward to seeing them
I just wanted to stop by and check the thread before going out to a small New Year's party. I thought it would be possible to catch up, but my goodness the thread has become a long one.

Yes I am still up watching FNC waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square
Wax on, wax off!
