Dear Droppings (liberal yammers about FR to local paper, mentions presidio9 -am I famous now?)
(Montpelier) Times Argus ^ | December 29, 2005 | Rama Schneider

Just wanted to send a note and say hey and tell you about one of the darnedest things. And I gotta say it is one of the clearest examples of how CONservatives (not to be confused with honest conservatives) have managed to convince so many people so many lies are in fact the truth. This is indeed a rather mind numbing stor ... eh ... no ... actually it's what I'd expect.

So here's what happened, Droppings: Somebody with the screen name of "presidio9" picked up my piece Green diets vs. global warming and posted it on the Internet message board Free Republic (click here to read post). You'll note presidio9 added "(eating better may reduce the methane released into atmosphere)" to my title without attributing his/her editing to her/himself ... and it's an edit that had nothing to do with my topic! The pretense of discussion that follows turns out to be chatter about the title part presidio9 itself added, and the responses were to a point never made in the article.

Simply put they took a truth (the article), added something that was not true (change to the title) and then acted like it was the author, and not one of themselves, who made the change to the title.

Those on the Free Republic site don't even rate as amateurs, but there are indeed pros doing the same thing. Remember John Kerry, my dear Droppings, and those miserable swift boat claims? They took the truth that John Kerry served in Vietnam, received several decorations and was wounded several times ... added their own claims that Kerry wasn't at certain incidents or wounded himself or lied on official reports ... and then made a "mainstream" media assisted and huge uproar over the issues they raised ... issues that turned out to be false!

For the mother of all lies ... Saddam Hussein and Iraq ... it was a set of actors that included so many in such high governmental offices: President, Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense (my what a misnomer), National Security Adviser and on and on. Droppings, it was so easy for them to layer the false claims regarding WMD and ties to al Qaeda onto such a despicable and barbarous person as Hussein ... and they did and they did and they did ad nauseum ... such ad nauseum only matched by the obsequious press renditions of each and every lie.

Forewarned is fore armed I guess my dear Droppings, and understanding how CONservatives (not to be confused with honest conservatives) manipulate the truth is a good forewarning for all of us I'd say.

PS. Droppings ... make sure you read Frames (click here) too!

[Kerry] now claims he was mistaken, even though he testifed under oath in Congress [1972?] about how it was "seared in his memory". Oh yeah, Kerry is also a confessed war criminal. Haul him before your precious ICC please. -1 Kerry

I was close - April 1971

"There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions..." -- John Kerry, on NBC's "Meet the Press" April 18, 1971

I posted a comment to the author on this article. Needless to say... it was removed.

How typical of the Left. Bets that he/she/it won't even have the integrity to pull the post down after she's been proven wrong.

"nothing to see here, folks, move along"

She has a bright future ahead of her at CBS...

"I don't see the problem. His addition was in parentheses. I have always understood that whatever is in parentheses is the thread poster's additions, not a change to the original title. Kinda like adding (Barf Alert!). I am sure that "Barf Alert!" is never actually part of the original title."

My mistake there has long-been addressed.

If the thin-skinned lefty hack took the time to learn anything about FR, he would realize that parenthesized comments in a thread title are generally accepted as a comment by the poster.

I would also consider that, given the extent of his snivelling, he may even be a leftist troll or frequent lurker here that has no other outlet for his obvious discomfort, lest he exposes himself to the rest of us or gets a swat from the zot kitten. Maybe he was zotted or slapped down here before this.

I don't understand, but the terms "thin skinned" and "blowhard" keep coming to mind...

Try an experiment. The next time you confront by a neo-pagan, New Age animal rights eco-fascist who claims humans were not "designed" or "meant" to eat animal flesh, ask them about the origin of their creationist philosophy. Inherent in such a claim is the idea that there is a "designer" or some divinity of "meaning" in human existence. Would they apply this to abortion, embryonic stem cells, drug abuse, pornography or homosexuality? No?

"Another interesting point would be that you would need to be living on Mars to be hearing the theory that switching to a vegan diet would reduce bovine methane emissions for the first time."

Control the environment. Eat beef.

All liberals must be summarily executed.

Which, using this author's logic, would go a long way toward ending global warming.

Good point, there. Something has to be done to control the cow population!

All liberals must be summarily executed.

That's harsh. I think we should be able to execute them in the winter, too.

I assume that when he says "Forewarned is fore armed" that he means "four armed" since, as a glib, he wouldn't actually have access to any weapons...

Am I missing something? The emissions the author speaks of are emissions produced in the production and delivery of the food as opposed to our general flatulance.

Ok - I've read the original article and I must admit that your title biased my interpretation of what was being said. On my first pass I couldn't figure out what the author was complaining about because the article did indeed seem to be about our personal flatulence. But as I neared the end I caught the reference to automobiles and so I reread the article. After the first paragraph I got the authors point sooner and the article changed from being about our flatulence to the emissions produced during the processing and delivery of said produce. Did you read the entire article or just the first 2 paragraphs?

All of that being said - your title comment did sway my perception of the article. I guess I just have to pay more attention. ;-)

All liberals must be summarily executed.

No Laz, NO.

They will receive a fair trial and once they have been found guilty, then and only then will EVERY SINGLE ONE of them be hanged.

We have to do these things in accordance with well established international protocols you understand.

Do you remember when bison were endangered? Remember how liberal told us that before the white devils got here bison were practically standing shoulder to shoulder from here to the Rocky Mountains? Before we needlessly slaughtered every single one of them so we could make purses out of their ears and leave the rest to rot? Before we ended the decades-old plains indian nomadic culture (which liberals think existed for millenia, despite the fact that the locals killed off all native horses 10,000 years ago and had to appropriate our ferral ones)? Tell me something: Did those buffalos fart or didn't they?
