The Boston Globe -- December 29, 2005

Leahy wants to know about Pentagon spying on protests

COLCHESTER, Vt. --Sen. Patrick Leahy wants the Defense Department to give him the details about two Vermont anti-war protests that were monitored by government officials.

Leahy, a Democrat, said Vermont had a long tradition of peaceful political protest.

...snip...

"Besides, I told the Department of Defense, if they really want to hear Vermonters speak out against the war, they don't have to send a camera crew to snoop around Vermont, just turn on C-SPAN," Leahy said. "I do it on the Senate floor all the time."

Thanks, but I really can't take credit for writing that one. I got it via email, and merely reformatted it for the web page...

I DID, however, write this one, IMPORTANT EMAIL UPDATE, originally as a joke-response to a friend's complaint that my ISP was bouncing back emails he'd sent to me, right after they'd initiated a new spam-filtering routine.

(There's also a link to it near the bottom of the SeadogBytes.com home page as well.)

LEAKY LEAHY:   "I do it on the floor of the Senate all the time."

Yes. He DOES appear to be on some sort of 'mission'... but I'm pretty sure it's NOT from God.

The Green Mountain Boys have all left Vermont for healthier climates. Leahy now represents a gaggle of pacifists, trustfund babies, Episcopalians, and New York draft dodgers. They deserve one another.

If Vermont is heavily into protest, why do they have such a Democrat establishmentarian like Leahy as their Senator?

This guy is a doctrinaire, hidebound, old-fashioned Stalinist and America-hater.

This does not speak well for Vermont's future.

I'm sorry but ol' Leaky ain't smart enough to dial a phone himself. This guy continues to amaze me with his stupidity and total lack of smarts. No wonder the Vice President told him to "GFY" last year. I'd told him that too if I got the chance. I think he is pure meaness and poison to the American way. I'm just glad he is old because some day I will rejoice, and the sooner the better.

If protesters are going to invoke their freedom to assemble, then the FBI is free to assemble too (just so happens the FBI assembled adjacent to the protestors).

Ok GOP faithful, and RINO's.....listen up. This clown can be your lunch if you just shout a little louder when this guy opens his yap. Leahy cares about as much about civil liberities as Colonel Sanders cares about sparing the life of a chicken. The Great Oz Has Spoken

An attempt to reframe an issue.....Absolutely. And they knew this stuff happens, too. I'd say it's a simple safety issue. These Dems act like Bush has all our names and photos on a secret wall someplace and the FBI will be breaking down all our doors. Ya know what....If I'm communicating with a terrorist........Pleeeeese break down my door.

Now let's get back to the real issue...Able Danger and the connections to the dudes that hit NYC and DC. If this information was not relayed to the Bush Administration properly, i.e., IN CONTEXT, Bubba did not do his duty. It's almost treason.

When we found out the names of some of the terrorists on the planes, I read that Clarke said: "How did they get on the planes"?
