If Indiana Jones had done his homework, he would have found the Ark of the Covenant by raiding a church in the barren mountains of northern Ethiopia.
Many Ethiopians believe that the Ark, containing the stone tablets inscribed with God's Ten Commandments, rests in the church of St Mary of Zion, at the town of Axum, and some western scholars have

Ethiopia must relinquish to Eritrea some isolated patches of arid land.
where do you get the idea that the ark is on this land?
It's in a warehouse somewhere. Spielberg said so.
There are people that believe that the Ark has been located, but its existence has not been revealed because it would lead to an immediate war between Israel and nearly all Arab nations. The way it is posed, a Jewish Israelis would proceed to rebuild the Temple, and that may include tearing down the Al-Aqusa Mosque, which would certainly result in an all out war.
I never gave it much thought that it was actually known, because like you, I thought if it was, it would certainly be made known to the public. But this idea that the Ark would be the catalyst to rebuilding the Temple made me think that it may be kept hidden for now.
I think the mosque should be torn down without the presence of the Ark. That thing is an offront to me as a Christian, and i would see that the Jewish people have their Temple back.
I agree, and I believe it will happen, but I don't see how it happens without starting a pan-arab-israeli war.
The most ridiculous thing is the Moslems claim to have the mosque on the Temple Mount as a matter of right, and also claim they are historically the rightful owners of Palestine, when it is clearly evident and undisputed that the Hebrew people had established Jerusalem, and the Temple, as their political and spiritual capitol some 10 centuries prior to the advent of Islam.
Axum is about 22 miles from the Eritrean border (as presently drawn). It's not too much of a stretch.
And many do not care.
We have top men working on it now....
If you get the chance I would highly recommend Hancock's book, it is really a good read.
now -that's- funny... :)
I figured Christendom's holiest relic would be the Grail or Spear of Longinus.
The Ark of the Covenant would be more important to Hebrews.
Isn't that a bit sick hanging on to a body part? I mean COME ON!!
We have top men working on it right now. Top.......men.
We have top men working on it right now. Top.......men.
And if this does come to war, what would you say was the cause?
I don't want to see the Temple back though I know prophetically it will happen. The Bible doesn't say that such a temple is a "good" thing but rather a place in which the "evil one" in human form throws down the gauntlet and commitx unspeakable blasphemies againt the anointed one of heaven! A temple in which animal sacrifices are once again in motion denies the "final" sacrifice of Jesus for all of our sins; these would serve to declare the his death on the cross was non-effectual for the remission of our transgressions.
The notion of a rebuilt temple is not a good thing, and not one to have misty eyed romantic notions about. That it will happen, is a part of God's plan though no where does it say he looks favorably on its building. We do know that God will take great offense at its desecration...not so much the temple itself but rather the defiance of His Glory that its desecration represents.
In that sense, does he call it "My temple" when he declares "The Lord whom ye seek shall suddenly come to his temple, as the messenger of the Covenant whom ye delight in, behold he shall come, saith the Lord of Hosts".
God will indeed make the whole Earth his temple,"For the knowledge of the glory of the Lord shall cover the Earth as water covers the sea."
Not being a Catholic I don't understand the 'relic' thing. I also don't understand the Virgin Mary on a pancake mentality, but whatever floats their boat. I don't need that kind of questionable proof of Jesus Christ, I have faith in the Word of God.
How would that:
a) Not still be a war
-and-
b) Remove the Ark from being a reason for the war?
